When weight training we split movements into compound and isolation exercises.
Simply, compound movements are exercises that recruit more than one muscle at a time. This means that more energy is used by the body to perform the movement but at the same time we are able to work a large area of the body in less time. Examples of these movements include Squats, Bench Press, Deadlift...
Isolation exercises are exercises in which we attempt to only recruit a single muscle or muscle group. I say muscle group, as if we were to isolate our triceps or biceps, we would still as a matter of fact be using more than one particular muscle, however the key is to maintain little movement of the rest of the body whilst performing the exercise so that the stress is kept in the correct muscle we are contracting.

It is so important to eat whole foods and to avoid processed foods (most of the time).
So often we opt for the easy option which on the whole is processed food rather than 'real' food. This can not only lead to major health problems later on in life but also has quite a large impact on the pocket over time. For instance, if you eat take aways most weekends, check your bank account to see how much you have spent over the course of a month, and I pretty much guarantee you will be shocked!
Over time however, the bigger impact will be on health, especially in relation to the growing issue we have with diabetes and heart disease. Processed foods are often filled with a lot more sugar and salt than we actually realise.

We often overlook the importance of keeping our endocrine system healthy as a lot of people either don't know what this system is within the body or simply don't know how to improve the health and functionality of the system.

Try this abdominal circuit to really get those abs burning and toned;
- 10 x hanging leg raises (If unable to do hanging lying leg raises to 90 degree angle).
- 20 x Half sits.
- 45 seconds Plank
- 20 Crunches
Repeat the circuit as follows;
- 4 x for beginners
- 7 x for intermediate
- 10 x for advanced

There are so many misconceptions when it comes to women and resistance training. All too often we hear females state that they don't want to lift weights to help lose weight as it will build a muscular physique.
Quite simply, this couldn't be further from the truth, and as a matter of fact, resistance training if done correctly can burn more calories than cardio can!
There is pretty much zero chance of building a 'muscular' physique as the hormones and genetic build of the majority of women would not allow for this. Meaning that the muscle would only appear more 'toned' rather than increase a lot in size over a period of time.

There is an age old argument for whether or not fasted cardio helps reduce body fat over performing cardio once the body is fed. There is also an abundance of studies to support either side of the argument. Therefore a lot of the time, peoples decision on this is based on personal preference.
That said, I am a believer that fasted cardio has a more positive impact on this as despite the relative arguments both sides, if you are using . energy to perform cardio before feeding the body then in reality the body has to burn adipose tissue as an energy source rather than food that the body has consumed prior to performing exercise.
