‘We are looking for a keeper for our u18 girls team.

Specialist goal keeper training will be available from ex professional Grace Donnelly.

The Goalkeeper role is a hugely important role within the team that deserves and requires specific training. We are really proud to now be able to offer this opportunity.’

💚⚽️ Birtley 5 - 2 Chester Blacks ⚽️💚

A cracking start for the girls against a tricky and determined opposition in Chester Blacks.

From the off, Birtley showed what they were made of with good team passing and support, rewarded in the 6th minute when the ball ended in the back of the net with Sophie finishing at the back post from a superb corner from Eve.

Joy lasted only a minute when Chester, pressurising from a goal kick scored themselves.
This just spurred Birtley on with a dominant attacking phase with Darcey slotting the ball home to make it 2-1. And this is how it stayed for the duration of the first half with both teams jousting back and forth for territory, possession and chances in front of goal.

Second half started with Birtley again in dominance from the off, creating chance after chance, getting a foot hold in play.

Ruby received her just desserts for her constant chasing down of some wonderful through balls making it 3-1 on 53 mins.

But Chester were not to be silenced with another goal on 73 mins, worked well between their forwards.

With it being 3-2 and having worked so hard for one another through the whole game, legs being tired, birtley could’ve folded.

The complete opposite happened. It gelled the team together to grab two further goals from Sophie and Ruby to complete a terrific performance by all.

⚽️💚Today's Woman Of The Match Goes To Kiera 💚⚽️

This young lady didn't stop all game. Her work rate was second to none, pushing up from midfield to help up front, getting some shots in, tracking back and getting her tackles in.
Well deserved.

⚽️💚 Birtley 0 - 5 Durham United 💚⚽️

Playing against top of the table this morning. A really good side but the girls went into the game with heads held high and ready to go.
1st half, we kept them at bay, played well trying to counter them and creating a couple of chances through Niamh, Eleanor and Kiera. Defensively, didn't mess about and give them as little time on the ball as possible.
Midfield ran their socks off all game, (some sore legs in the morning).
A lucky deflected goal gave them the advantage at half time.
2nd half, we were asleep for the 1st 10 mins, allowing 3 easy goals in but the girls perked up again, still trying to fight to get back in the game.
A good 5th goal from Durham sealed the game.
Girls should keep their heads held high today, we were not a push over for the best team in the league.

💚⚽️ Today's Woman Of The Match Goes To Elenour ⚽️💚

After a game where it was really hard to pick a player of the match as all were superb.
Played brilliantly up front, holding the ball up well to bring players into the game, getting shots off where she could and was rewarded with a goal. Well deserved Player of Match

⚽️💚 Birtley 4 - 0 washington 💚⚽️

Best performance of the season.
The girls played together really well. They looked like a team that was happy together. They got the ball down and played football, passing around superbly, nearly scoring through Elenour in the 1st minute.
The 2 forwards troubled their defence all day with Kiera scoring 3 and Elenour getting the other. Excellent performances as Elenour holding the ball up well bringing players into the game and Kiera for running her socks off to get the hatrick.
Midfield done their job with some brilliant battling and then giving the through ball to the forwards for their goals.
Defence didn't put a foot wrong with Liv going into defence when under pressure then pressing back into midfield when we were attacking. Keeping a clean sheet for their efforts
Well done to Maddie and Risa for coming into the team and playing brilliantly.

💚⚽️ Today's Woman Of The Match Goes To Darcey ⚽️💚

Darcey joined us a few weeks ago and has been a positive figure around training.

Today she showed us how good she can be on the wing and then dominating in midfield. Fantastic First Game Darcey!

⚽️ Birtley 1-5 Pools Youth ⚽️

A really tough game against a team that before today had only lost one game, scored 50 and conceded 17. Of those 17, they conceded 10 in their first game!

So it was always going to be tough, made tougher without Millie - Ruby stepping up from the u16s & capably providing cover for her.

The first 25 minutes saw Pools dominate and score 3 quick goals, from there we arguably were the better team - or at least matched them. Some real effort from all the team, a player of the match performance from new girl Darcey who really improves us and I’m looking forward to working with for the rest of the season.

We should be proud of that performance despite the result which doesn’t show a true reflection.

💚⚽️ Today's Woman Of The Match Goes To Ellen⚽️💚

Ellen ran her socks off all game, got the ball and brought her players into the game. Never stopped fighting for her team and was Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet
Well done Ellen 💪

⚽️ Darlington 3 - 1 Birtley town ⚽️
Unlucky result today for the girls, both teams starting with 10 players and on a very big pitch. We went 1 down through a free kick which was very deceiving for Millie. Referee made a couple of bad decisions which could of turned the game for us.
Second half was much of the same with Millie making brilliant saves but we pressed on.
A bit slack defending gave Darlington a 2nd. But we kept fighting and after Niamh went up front, she pulled 1 back for us with being determined to be 1st to the ball.
Within 5 minutes, Ellen nearly equalised with a shot which hit the wrong side of the post.
Darlington put a 3rd in against the run of play
Unlucky girls and to the next one.
