AJX U8’s vs Newton Aycliffe Juniors U8’s.

Tonight seen the U8’s squad play their 2nd match in as many days. Not only that but before our game did the AJX “Player Development Class” for an hour beforehand in this heat.

You’d of thought they would all be knackered on the pitch but where the total opposite. We played at a fast pace and let the football do most of the work.
I mixed both my Saturday teams as and Sunday in this game and everyone one of the kids played well tonight and everyone talking and linking up with each other like they being playing together for years. Some of the football and goals on show were top class tonight against a really good Aycliffe jrs team.

Overall I cannot fault any of the kids tonight. Fantastic football being played and fantastic attitudes. KEEP THIS UP!.

Player of the Match: ⭐

Hunter- Didnt get as much game time as most of the other kids but put a shift in, did everything right and also great in goal.

It’s not about the minutes you play, it’s about the effort you put in.

St Mary’s U8’s vs AJX Athletico U8’s.

The Athletico lads carried on their pre-season with a match a St Mary’s side on the re-build having lost a couple of players from last season.
The game started at a fast pace considering the weather and Athletico where on top from start. Controlling the ball, making progressive passes up front and am getting our shot off.

Although we controlled the game we did lose concentration and trying to hard to force the goals which led to abit of complacency and the opposition rightly punished us for it.

Overall it was a great performance, with everyone playing in different positions, scoring goals and contributing to the team’s overall performance.

Also a great effort from the St Mary’s coaches and kids today. Always positive, never give up and played some great football.

Result: Redcar District 2-4 AJX FC Barca

A phenomenal team performance from the lads today as we faced a high level Redcar District Team.

The game commenced with AJX starting brightly and being intense from minute 1. We were on the front foot and I loved the passing and the link up play. Being on top and dominant payed off when Ritchie Wilson latched onto a ball from Hayden,which all came from Josh P’s solid defending just prior (outstanding first performance).Our second came from the trio Ed, Fraz and Ritchie linking up and Edward being tenacious to slot it home. Redcar responded in the second 20 and a great finish saw them right back into it. They applied the pressure but our defence stood strong working as a unit and coping with everything thrown their way. Hayden made some fantastic saves to keep our noses in front before we got a third through some fantastic composure from Frazier to slot it past the keeper.

In the last 20,both teams worked hard and pushed to get another. Hayden made another great save before Redcar pulled another goal back,to make a tense finish. The lads finished the game off through a trademark Ritchie Wilson finish …4-2 AJX!

The team showed determination, team work and great attitudes with standout performances across the pitch.

Result: Seaham AFC 2 - 1 AJX FC 'Barca'
Date: Sun 9th Aug

A good friendly against Seaham this morning to blow the cobwebs off after a couple of weeks off for our boys.

The game started off with both teams trying to play football but a wet surface didnt allow that. Barca did well but lacking that cutting edge in front of goal and creating chances from the midfield. Seaham deserved to go ahead in the game through nice play and a lobbed shot to go 2 - 0 up. Then a moment where AJX broke and a defender clearly handballed on the line to keep the ball out led to a penalty that was missed unfortunately.

In the second half, we continued to enjoy lots of attacks but not alot of joy until the final 10 mins when AJX got a deserved goal to make it an exciting finish.

A good pre-season game and did exactly what it should do (get minutes into the legs)

Result: Heighington L - W AJX FC Barca

A great friendly against Heighington this morning to blow the cobwebs off after a month off for our boys.

The game started off with AJX dominating possession but lacking that cutting edge in front of goal. Heighington made it very difficult for us and had some good chances of their own with either side yet to break the deadlock.

In the second half, we continued to enjoy lots of possession when Reuben latched onto a loose ball and had the composure to finish. This released a bit of pressure off the boy and Reuben found himself in an identical situation and double his tally. Reuben then capped off his hattrick and completed the scoring for the day.
