Men's Team

1st Team: Western Counties North
United: Gloucester North 2

The 2019/20 season saw our 1st team finish 3rd in their league, with our United team finishing mid-table. The club now runs two men’s senior sides, both compete in the RFU league structure. We also have an occasional veterans team, an occasional 3rd team (social) with development fixtures, mainly Wednesday or Friday evenings under lights to encourage the transition of young players at 17/18/19/20 into the adult game. We are very aware that everyone matures at different rates, so we aim to provide matches at standards suitable for all to participate in and be confident and comfortable to enjoy the sport. We have a firm belief there is always a pathway to play adult rugby at Newlands Park. The club has been the starting point for many professional players, many playing club rugby from National 1 down to the lower leagues and also playing in clubs second, third and forth teams, just to be social and maintain a level of fitness. We are a great starting point and if as children progress through the age grades into adult sport and a working life, they will always be welcome at the Tigers. https://cheltenhamtigers.co.uk/teams/mens/




Women's Teams

1st Team: Championship North 1
2nd Team: TBC

2019/20 season saw our first team finish 2nd in the league, Narrowly missing out due to points difference. The 1st XV have now spent over 10 years in the Championship – which is tier 2, the level below the Premiership. We have worked hard over recent years to build a dedicated backroom staff team, and in particular a strong coaching team. We are lucky enough to have a great mix of coaches, who we are developing, some professional players and some experienced coaches who have been around the Women’s game in particular for over a decade. More recently we have embarked on an exciting partnership with Gloucester Hartpury Women, and aside from providing a pathway for our ambitious players to be exposed to the next level of rugby,
it is also a fantastic opportunity to grow grassroots rugby in the community, in particular girls rugby – which although we offer to local schools has proven challenging to cement consistently. Gloucester Hartpury share Cheltenham’s commitment to upholding and driving the family culture for all members. This season we are launching a 2nd XV Womens team, supporting our increased membership and hopefully pushing our 1st XV to better their strong top 2 finish last season (missing out on points difference only). Training is Tuesday & Thursday at Newlands Park, Cheltenham @ 18:45.

Mini's and Juniors

Touch

Monday 7 – 8.30: Pitch up and Play

Started up in 2016, Cheltenham Touch Rugby Club started as an O2 touch centre and has grown year-on-year. Now, with over 40 attendees to the Monday Night ‘Pitch up and Play’ session each week year-round, and the Wednesday training leading the competitive team to success in regional and national competitions, we cater to all ages and abilities for this fantastic mixed sport. In the past year we have seen our players represent in Development and Elite National Touch Series, as well as 20 regional representatives for West Wildcats and South West Saxons. We are also incredibly proud to have 7 England squad members from across the age categories in our team. We pride ourselves in our development of players new to the sport, as well as being a fun and competitive team for experienced players to push themselves in. Pitch Up and Play

Every Wednesday 6-7pm
Womens Only - Fridays 7:45-8:45pm

It started off small and evolved over the season, still managing to maintain the same objectives as it began with which were:

- To be fun
- To be inclusive – all ages, both genders, parents and kids
- To develop skills and fitness over an hour
- To develop ball skills
