Wishing a huge good luck to representing England at the Commonwealth Bench Press Championships tomorrow in South Africa 🇿🇦
Katie becomes the 4th TLP athlete to reach the international stage and we’re all beyond proud of her no matter the outcome (although some silverware would be nice 😉). Let’s go Katie!

What a great comp for these three!
Katie was up first and the goal was to hit the QT she needed for the British. We took it easy on squats with all white lights and no more depth issues! We knew she needed a 155 deadlift to qualify, so we decided to up her opener to 147.5 so give her two chances at 155 incase anything went wrong. This came to be a very valuable decision as a little mishap occurred on the first go, but then the it flew on her final attempt. Total PR, British QT and 🥉 secured!
Next up Emily lifted in the 52’s. We knew going into it that 2nd place was secured almost no matter what. No pressure for any QT’s, records or pushing for the win, so the plan was just a chill 9/9 & PR day. Where do we start with squats 🤣 The venue didn’t have AC and it was a very hot day so we couldn’t get her knee sleeves on properly no matter what we tried. The nervous giggles were in full force. Emily also decided to leave her T-shirt in the warm up room so I had to whip mine off for her to wear for her opener. Despite doing her attempts practically sleeveless, she smashed her opener and top end second and was very close to getting her top end third. Huge total PR, 🥈 and possible commonwealths selection.
Finally, Tierney took to the 69’s. This was her first open national comp, so the plan was to have a fun day and maximise her total. Squats went exactly to plan with all white lights. Tierney reminded me of what she likes to call ‘deadlift fatigue’ meaning she can only hit 2 attempts no matter the load. Begrudgingly, I upped her planned attempts and she hit the 170 goal on her second. Deadlift fatigue was then set in full force. Big total PB, next stop is the British, she just needs to stop rowing first.
As a coach the key aim was to maximise attempts and aside from some external issues, that’s exactly what we did. Three extremely good results, plenty of lessons to take away and an overall great day. Let’s go team!

Wishing a huge congratulations to for being selected to represent England at Commonwealth Bench later this year!!! 🥳 Yet another comp prep to come… 🥲 After 2 years of solid training and +30kg on her bench press, she becomes the fourth international TLP lifter, what a team we’re building! 🤝

Wishing the TLP monster .v.britton a huge good luck as he competes at the IPF World Bench Press Championships in Texas this upcoming Monday. Nathan goes into his first international (of many) as nominated 2nd and he looks to secure a spot on the world podium and break the long-standing British records. His PR from British Bench is 215kg, which he has destroyed multiple times in training and looks to get close to the allusive 4 plates at Worlds. Let’s go Nathan! 💪

Massive congratulations to (Leeds) and (Bristol… booo) who both took to the BUCS ‘24 platform 💪👩⚕️👩🎓
retained her u52 BUCS 🥇, took the deadlift record at 163.5kg and hit a total PR… all on a 4/9 day 🤯 having flu leading into the comp wasn’t the plan for the prep, but it was was it was. Still taking the win on a subjectively poor day shows how far Emily has come. Time for redemption at All Englands to hit a huge total PR!
competed in the 69’s, matching her PR total with 135/57.5/167.5 midway through an intense rowing training camp. The next stop is All Englands which will be an all out prep for her biggest total to date.
