It was a Lift Off like no other π
Friday marked our final session of OLY 4.0 and we went out in style. A Clean and Jerk Lift Off with a twist, points were clocked, Wild Cards used and Lifts tallied.

This week we focused on the Clean, progressing through Phase 3 after breaking down Phases 1 & 2.
As the barbell reaches its peak, itβs time to transition and catch it smoothly, not letting it crash onto us.
We also powered up with two jump variations, making some impressive distance across the floor! ππΌ

And weβre back!
OLY 4.0 kicked off with a deep dive into the Split Jerk, a move we havenβt focused on much before. We perfected foot positioning, grip, and tested overhead strength for sets of 3.
In CrossFit, we often rely on the Push Press or Push/Power Jerk, overlooking the Split Jerkβs benefits. Each team member added their own unique tweaks, whether incorporating pauses or refining their split stance.

Someone say Muscle Ups on a Sunday? ππΌ
When learning a new skill we can often find benefit from breaking down positions and motions to then play around seeing things piece together. That was exactly the grounds of our workshop today, an opportunity for a small group to come together and dive into a skill.
We broke down positions, and took a step by step on how to get over that bar. Armed with a list of drills and individual focal points Iβm excited to see where the team will be a in a couple of weeks time.

Thrusters, anyone? πͺ
Last night, we tackled the inevitable: thrusters. Itβs a love-it-or-hate-it movement, but the key is finding our own approach as individual athletes.
Our main focus? βStay Connected To That Barbell,β driving out and maintaining control.
We delved into the nuances, discussing the difference between cycling a light thruster versus a heavy one, and when to strategically reset with a breath.
Despite some skeptical looks at the whiteboard, the team conquered the WOD with unwavering determination, executing earlier discussed tactics and even surpassing their own expectations.
Looking ahead, weβre gearing up for our closing OLY Team Throwdown next week. What challenges will it bring?

Something a little different went down last night. π§±
This Team do not shy away from graft hard graft. With the focus on Lifting Under Fatigue the team tackled a βdeath by EMOMβ, alternating movements followed by one heavy rep.
As the movement reps increase, rest time dwindled and it was all about keeping composure with that barbell.
Next week we see the fan favourite of Thrusters.

Someone say Squad Goals?
OLY 3.0 kicked off last night and the team came ready to throwdown! Session one was all about Barbell Cycling, the different techniques we can bring into play to keep vital positions but introduce speed and efficiency.
From rebounds, to footwork the team took it in their stride applying all into a serious of EMOMs where they built in load.
It was a crabtivating session for us all.

Let's break free from the notion that the barbell has the upper hand. πͺ
YOU move that barbell; it doesn't move you. As a coach, there has been many occasions I have observed a common hesitancy, a timidity towards the barbell - especially among women.
It's time to shatter those thoughts and approach every lift with boldness. Own that Sn**ch with fierceness, commit to the Jerk, and punch that bar overhead with confidence. It's not about the bar moving you; it's about YOU moving that barbell. Trust in your strength & have faith in your abilities.
