SwimMastery coaches pay special attention to the biomechanics of the shoulder when analysing stroke. If you or any swimmer you know that suffers from shoulder pain resulting from swimming then you might be interested in this webinar. Shannon and Tracey will explain what you can expect from the online program offered to help swimmers swimming with shoulder pain.
Since being remotely coached by Tracey, Shannon has gone on to swim pain free and last year broke the record for a north to south swim of loch Ness and also became the first ever swimmer to swim the length of Dominica Island.
Join us for a FREE webinar about SwimMasteryโs new virtual, online, self paced course โMinimizing Shoulder Injury in Freestyle Swimmingโ!
Bring your questions to this exclusive Q&A with SwimMastery founder Tracey Baumann.

Shoulder injuries are the most likely cause for a swimmer having to interrupt their training or worse, their career.
At SwimMastery we pride ourselves on focusing on safeguarding our swimmers shoulder health by promoting biomechanically sound practices.
The attached independent paper outlines how some commonly seen practices could be jeopardising your shoulder health.
These are ...
โข Thumb first entry
โข High elbow recovery
โข Flick finish
โข Over reaching
โข Crossing the mid line
Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss any of these habits or to find out more about the SwimMastery approach.

A lot of people feel uncomfortable swimming breaststroke in a wetsuit because buoyancy raises the hips and puts pressure on the lower back.
Orca has now brought out the Vitalis OW wetsuit specifically as an answer to this problem.
PS. The only endorsement that I make is that I've swum in Orca wetsuits for the past few years and find them extremely light and flexible.

Honing your craft...
How streamline are you and how much time do you spend swimming focusing on becoming more streamlined in water?
To become your best swimmer possible you have to maximise propulsion while minimising your drag. These are the two constraints of swimming but do you have a balanced approach?
Guy Martin souped up a VW Beetle with an electric motor to beat a McLaren 570s in a drag race and it's obvious which car is more streamlined but why is the focus on the engine not effective for swimming?**
Well, because water is 830 times more dense than air which turn the rules on their head and so your engine has to work that much harder to make the performance gain you require while small changes in body shape give proportionately more performance gains without extra effort. So how come I see countless swimmers chasing length after length with all the accessories trying to make a better engine and so few swimmers spending time focusing on technique?
If you would like to find out how efficient your swimming is and what you could be doing to reduce your drag then please get in touch to arrange a video analysis session with an in-depth discussion on how to improve your technique.
You will be provided with an annotated recording of your swim along a written summary.

Is the freestyle coaching you're getting working for you?
A good coach will give the athlete the correct tools and ideas to succeed but it is always up to the athlete to assimilate the information and make the necessary adaptations to improve.
A better coach can make a difference in how he or she delivers the new information and ideas.
Every person has their preferred learning style - visual, auditory and kinaesthetic - and It can be a bit hit-and-miss if your coach can tune the material delivery to suit you the swimmer.
At Aqualign Studio Endless Pool with 1:1 coaching I use a mixture of demonstrations both from the side and in the water; provide tactile feedback to help guide you into the correct position; and provide instant video feedback so that you can see how a change affects your stroke.
If this approach appeals to you then send me a message so that we can arrange an introductory session to examine your stroke and find the appropriate way forward. There is no minimum competence required, so from freestyle beginners to seasons open water swimmers and triathletes are welcome to enquire.
