Castle Park parkrun

After last week's record 572 participants and the fact that Harlow parkrun isn't on this coming Saturday we could easily have a record number of participants.

Please check the volunteer roster and email to [email protected] if you can help. In particular, roles that need filling are timekeepers, finish tokens, marshals and barcode scanners. I'd also like another funnel manager.

A beautiful sunny and cooler day enticed a record 572 people to Castle Park parkrun this week.

We had 62 first-timers and 82 new pbs! Our furthest tourist was from Massachusetts, USA.

Another successful and incident-free parkrun! 🎉

Today we celebrated Stuart Longley’s 100th and Jeff Veitch’s 300th parkrun, as well as congratulating Simon on his forthcoming marriage. 💍

Martin O’Neill recorded the best male age-graded result at an impressive 81%, while Rosemary Nugent achieved the best female result with 78%. 👏

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who made today’s event possible.

Please consider volunteering over the next few weeks, as August is always a challenging month for filling the roster. We’d really appreciate your help! 🙏

1 August 2026 - Event 383 Run Report

A beautiful sunny day with a pleasant breeze blowing greeted the 487 people who completed the course today. Our volunteers were fantastic, and a special mention to Beverley MAY who earned her 150th volunteering credit today. While on the topic milestones - Anna SWANEPOEL earned her green T-Shirt today - 250 parkruns is a real achievement; David FLETCHER and Tony CHADA earned their black 100 T-Shirts; and George HOWE, Tom TIMSON, Anna COOPER, Steven MORLEY, Kathryn LANDIMORE, Gavin CLARK all earned their red 50 T-Shirts.

Caleb O'NEIL (SM20-24) was the first home in 16:08 and the highest rated male age grading of 80.27% (National Class level) while Cora NAYLOR (JW15-17) was the first female across the finish in 20:28 age grade rating of 75.73% (Regional Class level). The highest age grading was Jackie Gelman (VM70-74) with 80.69% (National Class level).

It was pacer day today which hopefully was the reason for the 59 PBs, well done to all of you.

We're back tomorrow and it's going to be another warm one!

We'll be on the normal course but please note we cannot use the Bandstand as they will be setting up for a music event later in the day. We will therefore be gathering somewhere close by.
