We're already thinking about next Saturday's parkrun and making sure we have enough volunteers to run the event. With summer holidays coming around, this is going to become more difficult - can you help? Email [email protected] if yes.

We particularly need more marshals to join the always-wonderful Bobby, pictured below. We cant guarantee the weather, but it is forecast to be 20°C and dry - so lovely weather for it.

Full future roster is here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/thorneybaybeach/futureroster/. We also need timekeepers if that interests you - don't worry if you haven't done it before, we can explain how it all works.

Another great morning at Castle Park parkrun, with 507 finishers enjoying a beautiful day and helping us celebrate one million parkrun events completed across the parkrun community.

We also celebrated the news that Castle Park was recently recognised by Dame Kelly Holmes Official as one of her top eight parkruns in the UK. This reflects the excellent atmosphere at our parkrun.

A huge thank you goes to all of our volunteers who made the event possible. As always, parkrun simply could not happen without the dedication of those who give up their time each week. We were particularly delighted to have the whole Thompson family volunteering together, a great example of what parkrun is all about.

The usual run stats attached.

We look forward to the next event in two weeks' time.

Advance Notice of Summer Cancellations!

Hi Everyone

Just to give you advance notice Castle Park parkrun will not be taking place on the following dates due to other events using the field.

Saturday 20th June (Bishop's Stortford Carnival Day)
Saturday 18th July (Bish Bash Music Festival)

Please use these dates as an opportunity to explore our other amazing local parkruns or treat yourself to a rare week off!

We politely request that you do not turn up and run at Castle Park on these days as the park will be blocked and it will be a safety risk.

Thank you!

A turnout of 547 on a beautiful, if hot, morning; beating our last record turnout on 9th May 2026 by 1!

Today's results and volunteer acknowledgements are at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/castlepark/results/2026-05-30/).

I am grateful to James, a tourist from Derby on his way to Malta after the event, who provided this excellent report.

Welcome to today's parkrun report where we share the experience of Diane, Chris and Tim who kindly chatted to us for the report. This was Castle Park parkrun 376.

Diane and Chris visited from Great Notley, Braintree (just far enough to be considered tourists according to Feridun, the Run Director!) Diane shared that she’s catching the parkrun bug, having completed 129 parkruns and now looking at completing 150! Diane was with Chris and usually she also parkruns with her son. A treasure trail was next on the agenda after parkrun and they were really looking forward to it. Of course, not as much as they were for parkrun!

Tim is visiting for three days from Antrim, Northern Ireland. He had just flew in an hour earlier from the nearby Stansted airport! Particularly, he came over to the capital for a watch party for a footy match happening tonight…

Today, Castle park was visited by tourists from Braintree, Avery Hill, Northern Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Cyprus and South Africa.

There were 547 parkrunners with 56 PBs. Sixty-four parkrunners completed their first ever parkrun - welcome to the parkrun family!

First male and female finishers were Warrick and Tanna with 18:06 and 20:21 respectively (the latter also setting a PB!) Well done to both!

A big thank you goes to all the awesome volunteers. If you are reading this, you made the event possible! Jonathan conducted the First Timer’s Welcome whilst the Run Director was Feridun.

Finally, the weather report. Today was a warm 24°C, clear skies and minimal wind.

If you haven't volunteered before, please consider doing so - there is a variety of roles to choose from. Have a look at the future roster and let us know if you can help.

We are nearly ready to go on Saturday - we need two/three more marshals.

Thank you to those that have already volunteered.

It will be a hot one, forecast is now for 21 degrees at 9.00am so please drink plenty beforehand and use sun tan cream.
