A great experience for our swimmers at the Swim England East Region Open Water Development Day held at Stanborough Lakes this weekend ππββοΈ
Two of our age group swimmers took part in preparation for next monthβs Regional Open Water Championships, gaining valuable experience across a full day of lake-based training, classroom learning and a 2km open water swim.
We also had a strong Masters presence on the day, gaining valuable time in the open water and supporting the wider club involvement in the event.
A big thank you to our coach Joe, who was in attendance supporting swimmers throughout the day, including supervising on the water and providing guidance during the sessions.
A really positive and productive day of learning for all involved π

We want everyone to enjoy going for a swim, but with more and more people heading to the water and tragic drowning incidents once again highlighting the potential risks, below is some key water safety advice to help keep safe around the water:
Know the Water Safety Code
πStop and think; always swim in a safe place
πSwim in supervised, lifeguarded areas
πEnter the water slowly and carefully
Stay together π€
Stay within reach of others, and keep children in arms reach at all times
Float π
If you fall in or become tired, float on your back, breathe, relax and call for help
π¨If you see someone in an emergency:
π Call 999 (If you're at the coast, ask for the Coastguard, if youβre inland ask for Fire and Rescue)
π£ Tell the person in the water to float on their back, breathe, relax
π‘ Throw them something that floats
