Happy Father’s Day 💙

Today we celebrate all the dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures.

The ones who encourage us, make us laugh, offer advice (whether we asked for it or not 😄), and are always there when we need them.

We’re also thinking of those who are missing their dad today and remembering the special memories they shared 💙

A special shoutout to all the Paragon dads who balance work, family and finding time to look after their own health too 💪

Have a fantastic day.

💙 From all of us at Paragon Fitness Studio

⭐️ STAR OF THE WEEK ⭐️

This week’s Star of the Week goes to Coach Mark 👏🏃

With his birthday coming up on Monday (shared with his daughter Isabella 💙 ), it felt like the perfect time to say thank you for everything he does for us at Paragon.

Mark joined the coaching team back in 2017 and has been a huge part of the Paragon journey ever since.

Over the years he’s coached thousands of sessions, helped countless members get stronger, fitter and healthier, and has become a big part of what makes Paragon what it is today.

He’s a fantastic coach, genuinely cares about our members and always goes above and beyond to help people achieve more than they thought possible.

In fact, regular members will know there’s a good chance he’ll quietly appear beside you with a heavier dumbbell just when you thought you were staying on the same weight 😆💪

He’s also the reason the studio is generally neat, tidy and organised.

We’re not saying he’s obsessed with things being straight… but if a dumbbell is slightly out of place, there’s a good chance it won’t stay that way for long 👀

Many of you will also remember the zoom workouts, lockdown challenges and even a memorable appearance as Where’s Wally during Covid 🤣

And finally, while Mark continues to deny it, the footage in this reel appears to show him enjoying the smell of brand-new weights a little more than most people would consider normal 🏋️😆

Most importantly though, he’s a brilliant coach, a great friend and someone we’re very lucky to have as part of Team Paragon.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Mark (& Isabella) 🎂💪

Very well deserved ⭐️

Following on from yesterday…

One of the biggest things that stops people starting is the worry that they’ll feel out of place.

Too unfit.
Too old.
Too slow.
Too nervous.
Too unsure what to do.

But that’s exactly why people come to Paragon.

We don’t expect you to know what you’re doing.
We don’t expect you to keep up with anyone else.
We don’t throw you into a packed room and leave you to figure it out.

We coach you properly, keep the sessions structured, and help you build confidence one step at a time.

That first session is usually the hardest part.

After that, it starts to feel much more normal.

A lot of people wait until they feel “ready” to start.

Ready usually means:

A bit fitter.
A bit lighter.
A bit more confident.
A bit less busy.
A bit more motivated.

But the problem is, ready can take forever to arrive.

At Paragon, you don’t need to be ready in that perfect way.

You just need to be willing to start.

We’ll meet you where you are, coach you properly, adjust exercises when needed, and help you build things up at a pace that actually suits you.

That’s how confidence grows.

Not by waiting until you feel ready.

But by taking the first step, getting support around you, and realising you’re more capable than you thought.

If you’re local to Bishop’s Stortford and you’ve been waiting to feel ready, this could be your sign to start.

🏆 MEMBER OF THE MONTH 🏆

This month’s Member of the Month goes to Tessie… aka “BoxingT” 👏💙

Tessie has been part of the Paragon family for well over 10 years.

Now, there was a brief period where she left to try another gym… but thankfully she came to her senses and we eventually allowed her back 😆

Originally from Greece 🇬🇷, Tessie has brought a little bit of Greek culture to Paragon over the years too… including some absolutely incredible homemade spinach and feta pie that has gone down very well with both members and coaches 😋

Over the years Tessie has become a huge part of the Paragon community.

She’s taken on Tough Mudder as part of Team Paragon, completed numerous Paragon Fitness Games, tackled long walks with us (although she once wisely decided the pub and a taxi home was a better option than the rest of the route 🍻🚕), and has used training to help both her physical and mental wellbeing through life’s ups and downs.

She’s also one of our biggest supporters and has recommended Paragon to countless friends over the years, and for that we’re incredibly grateful 💙🙏

Of course, no Tessie post would be complete without mentioning a few of her famous traits…

🌬️ If the fans are on, there’s a good chance Tessie will be found turning them off again.

⏰ Early morning sessions aren’t always her favourite and she’s one of the few members honest enough to publicly admit in the Facebook group when she’s slept through her alarm 😆

🔑 And somehow… despite years of practice… she still occasionally manages to lock her car keys inside her car and arrange a lift home with various gym buddies to get the spare set.

Plus let’s also just say that when Tessie celebrates a birthday in July that begins with a 7, quite a few people are going to be checking her birth certificate 😆

Most people would probably guess she’s at least 10 years younger than she really is 👏🥳

What we love most about Tessie is that she’s always completely herself.

She’s genuine, supportive, honest, great fun to have around and a valued part of what makes Paragon what it is.

Very well deserved BoxingT 👏⭐️

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they want to get fitter is thinking they need to go from doing nothing to doing everything.

Train every day.
Cut out all the foods they enjoy.
Smash every workout.
Change their whole life overnight.

And then, usually, it lasts about two weeks 😅

At Paragon, we do things differently.

We help people build a routine they can actually stick to.

That might mean starting with a couple of coached sessions each week.
Learning how to lift safely.
Getting fitter without feeling like you’ve been thrown in at the deep end.
Building confidence little by little.

Because the goal isn’t just to start.

The goal is to still be going weeks, months and years later.

If you’re local to Bishop’s Stortford and you want help getting into a routine that actually feels doable, comment START and we’ll send you some info.
