The wait is over! This weekend the Wyre Seagulls head to Hull for the Battle of the Biscuit Tournament, where we'll face seven tough group games across two action-packed days.

FULL TIME | Sheffield Mavericks 4️⃣-5️⃣ Wyre Seagulls 🟡⚫
What a way to finish the league campaign! The Seagulls travelled to Ice Sheffield and produced a determined performance to claim a superb 5-4 victory, securing 6th place in the league as we now turn our attention to the play-offs in three weeks' time.

1st Period 🏒

The Seagulls made the perfect start as Danny Whitworth ( #66) fired us in front, finishing well from an Adam O'Neill ( #6) assist. The Mavericks hit back with two quick goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes to take the lead, but the Seagulls refused to let their heads drop. Paul Smith levelled the game with a well-taken finish from a John Mcswiggan ( #82) assist, sending the teams into the first intermission locked at 2-2.
2nd Period 🏒

The Seagulls came out with real intent after the restart. Lewis Duncan ( #13) restored our lead, with an assist from Paul smith . Matthew Duncan ( #22) then took over, scoring two excellent unassisted goals to complete his brace and put the Seagulls firmly in control, ending the second period with a 5-3 advantage.

3rd Period 🏒

The Mavericks pushed hard in the final period and pulled one goal back to make it 5-4, but the Seagulls showed incredible resilience. Every player battled for every puck, blocked shots and defended with everything they had to see out a deserved victory.

An outstanding team performance from start to finish and the perfect way to close out the league season. This win secures 6th place in the league standings, and with confidence high, we now look ahead to the SIHC Play-Offs in three weeks' time.

🏒 GAME DAY! 🏒

It's the second game of our double-header weekend, and today the Wyre Seagulls hit the road to take on the Grimsby Trawlers IHC

After a hard-fought 5-4 victory over the Kingston Reapers last night, the lads will be full of confidence as they look to make it two wins from two this weekend.

The Trawlers will provide another tough test, but the Seagulls are ready to give everything and finish the weekend on a high.

Wyre Seagulls 5️⃣ - 4️⃣ Kingston Reapers Ice Hockey Club

The Wyre Seagulls kicked off their double-header weekend in style with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over the Kingston Reapers in an entertaining contest.

The opening 10 minutes were a real battle, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find the breakthrough. It was in the 11th minute that the deadlock was finally broken as the Seagulls' leading points scorer, #13 Lewis Duncan, calmly slotted home after excellent work from #6 Adam O'Neill and #96 Kieren Banlin.

The Reapers continued to battle, but with five minutes remaining in the first period, #22 Matt Duncan doubled the Seagulls' advantage, assisted by #6 Adam O'Neill. Just 30 seconds later, the Seagulls struck again as #2 David May fired home from a feed by #22 Matt Duncan, giving the home side a commanding 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.

The second period started perfectly for the Seagulls as they capitalised on a power play just six minutes in. #2 David May grabbed his second goal of the night, assisted by stand-in defenceman Lewis Slavin and #6 Adam O'Neill, who picked up his third assist of the game. The Reapers responded well and found the net before the break, leaving the score at 4-1 heading into the final period.

Five minutes into the third, it looked like the game was wrapped up when #22 Matt Duncan scored his second of the night, assisted by #96 Kieren Banlin and #82 John McSwiggan, making it 5-1.

However, the Reapers refused to give up. They raised their intensity and scored three quick-fire goals to set up a tense finish, putting the Seagulls firmly on the back foot. Despite the late pressure, the Seagulls dug deep, defended brilliantly, and held on to secure a deserved 5-4 victory.

It's the first of a double-header weekend for the Wyre Seagulls, and we kick things off on home ice as we welcome the Kingston Reapers.

The Reapers will be looking for revenge after our last meeting, so expect a fast, physical battle from the first puck drop.

But that's not all... tomorrow we hit the road as we travel to Grimsby to take on the Trawlers, making it a huge weekend of hockey for the Seagulls.
