PHYSIQUE UPDATE πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ“’

(Excuse the sketchy posing and questionable face, big thought process on posting this but fu*k it 🀣)

I have been on a cut trying to get my body fat down in preparation for a trip to Portugal this weekend, however Boris has absolutely shafted us so the trip is off πŸ₯΄

However, I’ve still worked hard in and outside of the gym so wanted share my physique as of this morning. My belly has always been my stubborn fat loss area so my patience has definitely been tested hahah- slowly starting to get to decent body fat levels and some definition creeping out πŸ‘€

I’m still gonna keep my cut going, get myself to a aesthetic level that I’m content with, and try and maintain that for as long as I can this summer βœ…

I hope you’re all enjoying your lives both in and out of the gym, that really is the main thing and why we do what we do πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

BACK DAY 🦍

Apologies for being so quiet on here, a lot going on and been nice and busy. I wanted to share with you a few clips from one of my recent back days βœ…

I’ve taken a back seat with the weight, focussing on my form and making the weight that I use feel heavy af 🀣πŸ”₯

πŸ‘‰πŸ» SCAPULA DEPRESSION- starting my back workouts with these currently, considering this as practice for my working sets and helps me feel my lats more πŸ”₯

πŸ‘‰πŸ»SEATED CABLE ROW- feel like I’m driving my elbows back at somewhat of a high angle, trying to engage some more rear delt too.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» ROPE PULLOVERS- keeping my elbows tight to my body and really trying to feel my lats contract and squeeze at the bottom of the rep

πŸ‘‰πŸ» T-BAR ROW- allowing more of a stretch on the way back down then really driving the elbows back and just squeezing my back at the top πŸ”₯

Somewhat of a physique/nutrition update βœ…β€ΌοΈ

Haven’t been posting much on here for the past few weeks or so, been mega busy at Blackpool which has been sick πŸ”₯

As far as training goes, has been hit and miss- still managing to train 3 times per week but have had to adapt the training split in order to hit each muscle group twice per week. Gotta do what you gotta do πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Still in my ongoing cut, won’t lie nutrition was slacking for a few weeks- got real lax with my calorie tracking and the quality of the foods that i was consuming. Back into some sort of routine now so all good- don’t stress if your nutrition goes off path for a little, do your best to see the rough patch out and get back on it as soon as you can πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Have held onto muscle well during lockdown so almost feels like I’ve been lean bulking the past few weeks tbf, not quite a cut but we move hahah. Not touched a flat bench for a long time, really trying to build myself a big chest so have been smashing out all sorts of incline variations. βœ…

When Should You Do Compounds Lifts πŸ¦πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Most people go into the gym and start their chest day with flat bench press, pull day with a deadlift or their leg day with a squat- in my opinion that isn’t the best approach ❌

In terms of hypertrophy (muscle growth), I think you should warm the muscle up and do other exercises first before jumping into your compound lift. πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘€

For example, before I do bench press, I always get warmed up on incline dumbell press first. I feel this gets me warm, and also helps me establish a better mind muscle connection for when I do then go onto the bench press. βœ…

In terms of injury prevention too, I also feel this approach is much more sustainable and will reduce the chances of picking up an injury from your compound lifts- especially if you would normally jump into heavy weights and a low rep range. πŸ”₯

Why I don’t Like Cheat Meals ❌🚫

Most people will incorporate cheat meals into their diets when they start their weight loss mission- but this is something that I do not recommend. πŸ‘‰πŸ»

This concept means that the individual will restrict the foods that they consume, apart from their once a week treat where they will go all out πŸ”πŸŸπŸΊ

Restriction causes us to crave whatever we have been restricted from, which is why, for many people, a cheat meal can quickly turn into a cheat day, cheat weekend or cheat week. Binging can be so easy to do once you have that rare taste for something delicious πŸ€€πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Assuming you track your calories, instead keep 80% of your food on point, whilst keeping 20% of your food β€˜fun’. So if you have 4 meals per day, that’s 21 meals per week-that equals 4 β€˜fun’ foods/meals per week. This lack of restriction helps reduce cravings, makes your diet model more sustainable and should make you much happier in general πŸ˜„πŸ€žπŸ»
