Blackpool FC Ladies Reserves continued their pre-season campaign in style today, producing an excellent away performance to secure a convincing 7-0 victory against Litherland REMYCA.

The ladies started the game brightly, showing great energy, intensity and togetherness from the first whistle. The Seasiders moved the ball well and created a number of opportunities, putting the home side under pressure and deservedly taking control of the game.

Blackpool went into half time 2-0 ahead after a strong opening 45 minutes, with the team showing excellent discipline and composure both in and out of possession.

The second half saw the Reserves step up another level. Pool continued to dominate, moving the ball quickly and creating chance after chance. The pressure eventually told as Blackpool added five further goals to complete an emphatic 7-0 victory.

It was a fantastic all round team performance, with every player contributing to a result that showed the quality, hard work and determination within the squad.
The clean sheet was equally pleasing, with the defensive unit working tirelessly throughout the 90 minutes and giving Litherland REMYCA very little to work with.

Blackpool FC Ladies Reserves manager Callum Lord: “Today was a fantastic performance from the girls. To come away from home and win 7-0 shows the quality and togetherness we have within this group.

We spoke before the game about starting fast, working hard for each other and playing our football, and the girls did exactly that. Going into half time 2-0 up gave us a great platform, but the most pleasing thing was how we continued to push in the second half.

Seven goals and a clean sheet away from home is a brilliant result, but the performance is what makes me most proud. Every player played their part and we showed real hunger and desire throughout the game.

I do believe the best from this group is yet to come and we cannot wait for the league to start.”

For our final pre-season game of the summer, The Seasiders challenged themselves against Tier 5 opposition (one league above us), coming out on top in a thrilling contest.

Pool started off exceptionally well, trying a new formation for the first time, playing some fantastic football, excelling physically, and working extremely hard as a team. Worrall gave Blackpool the lead in the first half, with a fine ball from Roberts sending her though on goal, and then powering her shot past the opposition keeper.

Darwen pulled a goal back before half time from a corner, meaning both teams went into half time equal.

Pool again came out strong, and deservedly went into a 2-1 lead. Worrall pounced on a mistake from the Darwen defence to score her second.

As expected from Tier 5 opposition, Darwen threatened The Tangerines’ goal in the second half. Rogers was dominating in the air, and Loxton pulled off a full-stretch save to keep Blackpool in front. With a minute to go Worrall got her hat trick, pressing well and slotting into an empty net.

Andy Aspinall, First Team manager: “Today was exceptional, and I am so proud of the team. We proved that when we work hard for 90 minutes, we can beat anyone on our day. The girls played with heart, desire and pride, and deserved everything they got.

We have worked hard in pre-season, and we are ready now for the first league game of the season next week!”

Tournament Success for our Blackpool FC Girls u15s Tangerines! 🍊⚽

The girls played in the Girls Festival of Football tournament in Wigan on Sunday. The girls went unbeaten throughout the day and secured the Europa Cup!

Coach Carl - 'A great tournament win coming up against a few older teams , conceding only 1 goal in 10 mini games . The girls stuck to the task so well, showing some wonderful team work on and off the pitch'.

Morecambe Women 3-1 Blackpool FC Ladies

A mixture of our First Team, Reserves and u18s took part in our fourth pre-season friendly of the summer, falling to an unfortunate defeat, despite dominating large parts of the game.

Pool went 2-0 down early on, failing to get to grips with the physicality of Morecambe in the first 20 minutes. From this point on, The Tangerines began to take control of the game, playing attacking football, and starting to win the battles all over the pitch.

Chances came and went for Blackpool. Roberts jinked past a couple of players in the box, with her cross-shot evading everyone, with Quinn firing just over from the edge of the box.

Fielding got a goal back, calmly slotting past the opposition goalkeeper. Trialist A managed to get around the goalie, unable to convert from a tight angle, and was also denied a strong penalty shout after being bundled over in the box. Johnson had an effort from a corner clawed away by the goalkeeper, who then pulled off an excellent stop from Lord. Jones went close at the back post too, hitting the side netting.

Morecambe then scored a third from a corner against the run of play, with Roberts, Johnson, Montgomery and Trialist A continuing to pepper the Morecambe goal, but unable to convert the chances.

Andy Aspinall, First Team Manager: “We were disappointed with the first 20 minutes. We got outfought and it took us too long to match Morecambe’s physicality. However, from that point onwards, we were really happy with the overall performance.

It was great to see so many Reserves and u18s getting on the pitch, and we know that we can rely on them when called upon this season. We’ve been working hard on fitness over the summer, so it was good to see a good intensity for the full 90 mins.”

Our Reserves are looking for a friendly on Sunday 9th August. Looking for a team from the Lancs County League who can host us please 🙏🏼

The girls are loving the additional S&C and gym sessions, delivered by one of our First Team players, who has recently graduated from uni.
