Match report

Sunday 13th September

League game away against Euxton villa Blacks

First away game of the season and a cracking game for a neutral 😂 with Euxton coming out on top with a 5-3 victory.

The girls started quickly and were 2 up in first 10 ten minutes. The first coming from an own goal due to pressure on the defence by Emilia creating panic and a mistake from Euxton. The girls controlled the next few minutes and Emilia worked hard from a long ball forward on the right hand side to strike a hard shot from the edge of the area from a tight angle. So tight it was debated if the shot damaged the side netting to go in, but both Emilia, defender and lines-person gave the goal, a great strike.

Euxton then came back strong with a few well built attacks down the left hand side the draw level to 2-2. Clifton then went to the other end and Emily ripped in a strong corner for Emilia to pounce and score her second of the game. Euxton then took over the mantle just before half time to score two for a halfway 4-3 lead.

The coaches challenged the girls to relax, be composed and enjoy the second half as they had the quality to get a result out of the game. Unfortunately the result wasn’t to be, but the effort, drive and commitment was second to none. Multiple chances created and I still don’t know how we didn’t score at least one. In the end we threw everyone forward and conceded a counter attack goal in the last 20 seconds.

Darcy

A great game from Darcy where she ran herself out of air in the first half and again in the second. Great defensive awareness, strong runs travelling with the ball and neat link up play with the team. Almost scored a wonder goal in the second half! Great game, keep it up!!!!

Coaches player of the match -

Matilda

Don’t think there was a blade of grass Tilds didn’t cover during the game. Strong in the challenge, read the game well for timely
Interventions, controlled passing and then driving runs and shots at goal. Complete midfield performance

Match report

Sunday 6th September

League game home against Morecambe Blues

First game of the season and a strong professional, complete performance.

The girls have begun the season in a new formation and new roles and on day one, they worked hard for each other to implement these roles and positions well. The team started quickly and the most positive areas were the initial and secondary press of opponents and the joy and enjoyment the girls had during the game.

Clifton started on the front foot and dictated the play thoughout the game advancing into an early 3-0 half time lead. In the second half, the girls built on this control, creating a number of chances and the then scoring three further goals to finish 6-1 winners!!!

Parents player of the match -

Emilia

What an amazing performance, endless running and pressure, strength, composure and clinical finishing for 6 goals. Some great movement and quick finishing, 3 goals from corners die to great movement and even a superb header into the top corner.

Coaches player of the match -

Olivia

From a coach view, even though Emilia scored 6, Olivia was superb all game. She ran the first half creating opportunities and goals for Emilia. Dropping into dangerous positions and was unlucky not to score two goals herself. Like a mini messi in this match. Believe in yourself and go again

2026/2027 New season

The girls start this season in the Kendall league (mid league) of the Fylde and Lancashire Football League.

A mixed preseason where we said goodbye to Mia and Tallulah, who have been valuable members of the team over the last few years, good luck for the future.

The stingers face a very competitive league this year but aim to build on the successful end to last season which saw us finish second in phase 3 and reach the Coulton plate final!
