Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks vs. Blackpool Scorpions U12s
5th July 2026
The Blackpool Scorpions traveled away this weekend for their second encounter of the season against a disciplined and formidable Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks side. It was a game of two halves that tested the grit, determination, and resilience of the Scorpions.
A Steep Challenge facing a higher division team, the Scorpions faced immediate pressure from the kickoff. The Hornets demonstrated their quality, utilizing a well-drilled attacking structure to break through the defensive line repeatedly. By the time the halftime whistle blew, the Scorpions found themselves trailing 22-0.
Despite the challenging first half, the Scorpions refused to drop their heads. A focused halftime team talk reignited their passion, and the team emerged with renewed energy. They began to play with composure, utilizing their full set of tackles and effective offloading to put the Hornets under pressure.
The Scorpions’ persistence paid off with a brilliant team effort, resulting in the first try of the match for Blake. While the conversion was unfortunately missed, the momentum had clearly shifted.
Showing great teamwork and discipline in the final stages, Jude powered over the line for the Scorpions' second try. Jude followed up the score by slotting a successful conversion, bringing the final score to 28-10.
The coaching staff was incredibly proud of the entire squad's performance. The match showcased significant improvements in decision-making, defensive tackling, and driving play. Every player contributed to the effort, proving that the hard work being put into training is translating onto the pitch.

Golborne Parkside ARLFC U12s v Blackpool Scorpions U12s
FT Score 32-12
Blackpool Scorpions Under 12s travelled to league leaders Golborne Parkside on Sunday morning and produced one of their most encouraging performances of the season despite a 32-12 defeat.
Golborne opened the scoring early, but the Scorps responded brilliantly through Blake, who crossed for the first of his three tries after some determined attacking play. The home side continued to test the Scorpions' defence, but the visitors showed great resilience and commitment throughout the first half. Blake grabbed his second try before the break, although the conversions proved elusive, leaving the score at 16-8 in favour of the hosts.
The second half saw the Scorps continue to battle against a very strong Golborne side. Their hard work and determination were rewarded when Blake completed his hat-trick with another well-taken try.
Despite Golborne adding further scores to secure a 32-12 victory, the result didn't reflect the huge strides made by the Scorpions.
The coaches were delighted with the team's performance, praising the significant improvement in line defence, attitude, communication and the use of effective dummy runs. Every player worked tirelessly until the final whistle, supported one another throughout, and showed the character that makes this team so enjoyable to coach.
While the scoreboard favoured the home side, it certainly felt like a win in terms of effort, development and teamwork against one of the league's strongest teams.
🏅Badge Winners!
* *Opposition's Player: Casper
* *Coaches' Players: Tommy and Jude
* *Parents' Player: Blake
There were also special mentions for several players. Harrison showed tremendous bravery after taking a heavy knock but carried on battling for the team. Leland impressed with some strong scoots from dummy-half, Big Bill put in a series of powerful tackles, and Jacob made the most of his 20-minute spell on the pitch with a great contribution.
A huge thank you goes to coaches Terry, Ronnie and Danny for their continued hard work. Special thanks also to Coach Mason, who came down to say goodbye before moving back to Wales. We wish him all the very best for the future. As Mason said himself, it's not goodbye it's "see you later."
Thank you also to the hosts and congratulations on the win! 👏
Finally, thank you to all the parents, guardians, family members and friends whose fantastic support means so much to the team, both home and away.
Training is the focus this week before the Scorpions hit the road again next weekend for another tough away fixture against Halton Farnworth ARLFC. 🦂🏉💪

Match Report | Barrow Island U14s 42- 4Blackpool Scorpions U14s
A tough afternoon on the road as we travelled to the league leaders with a squad of 13, only to see injuries take their toll throughout the game.
Despite being reduced to just 10 players, and with the opposition opting not to match our numbers, the boys never stopped competing. Their determination and resilience summed up everything this team is about.
Their efforts were rewarded late on with a fantastic interception and well-deserved try, a moment that perfectly reflected the character and commitment shown from first whistle to last.
It wasn’t our day on the scoreboard, but sometimes the result doesn’t tell the full story. The never-give-up attitude, heart, and fight shown by every single player made us incredibly proud.
Heads up, boys. We move on together. 💙🦂🏉

Match Report U12s
Cadishead Rhinos 34-0 Blackpool Scorpions
Blackpool Scorpions U12s made the trip to Greater Manchester on a scorching day to take on Cadishead Rhinos Community Rugby League Club U12s, with the hosts running out 34-0 winners.
The hot conditions made it a tough afternoon for both sides, but Cadishead's ability to rotate players with a full bench certainly gave them an advantage, while the Scorpions battled on bravely without any substitutes.
Despite the scoreline, there were plenty of positives to take away. The Scorpions produced some good passages of rugby throughout the game, showing determination, commitment and flashes of the quality we know this team possesses. Unfortunately, it just wasn't our day.
A special mention goes to James, who showed tremendous courage after taking an accidental elbow to the face. Forced to leave the field for a breather, the Scorpions had to battle with 12 players for a spell before James displayed real resilience by returning to help his teammates finish the game.
The effort from every single player never dropped. The lads kept working for each other until the final whistle, refusing to give in despite the challenging conditions and the lack of replacements.
This week, the focus returns to training where the squad will work hard on their core skills, teamwork and building towards another away fixture next weekend against Golbourne Parkside.
A huge thank you, as always, goes to our fantastic coaching team of Terry, Ronnie and Danny for their hard work and dedication, along with our brilliant volunteers Emma, Liza and Zoe, whose support behind the scenes is invaluable. We'd also like to thank all of the players' families for travelling, cheering the team on and supporting the boys throughout the day it really does make a difference.

Blackpool Scorpions U12s vs. Halton Farnworth Hornets ARLFC Blacks U12s
It was a brisk and windy day down at Common Edge as the Blackpool Scorpions welcomed the Halton Farnworth Hornets Blacks for a highly anticipated match. Despite the final scoreline of 4–36, the match was a testament to the character, grit, and rapid development of our U12 squad.
Facing a challenging division this season, the Scorpions demonstrated exceptional teamwork and unwavering determination. The match was a hard fought contest, with our players putting in significant work on both ends of the pitch. Our defensive line held firm under pressure, and the attacking phases showed real promise as the squad continues to gel.
While the visitors ultimately came away with the win, the true highlight was the "never say die" attitude of the Scorpions. The players kept digging in until the final whistle, making it a thrilling game to watch from the sidelines. Every week, the improvements in their play are becoming more evident, and every single player should be incredibly proud of their performance today.
A massive well done to both Raife and Teddy, who made their debut for the team today!
It was a special day for Raife, who marked his debut match by scoring his first try for the Scorpions.
While Casper put in a great effort as our kicker, the exceptionally high winds proved to be a tough opponent, making the conversion incredibly difficult to convert.

What a great opportunity for our Junior section thank you Joe Bullock for coming down 💙. We are not just the biggest rugby league club in and around Blackpool and Blackpools club of the year for the last 2 years and reigning Lancashire club of the year for nothing. Our club is built on putting kids and families first and this reflects when a player that has made it at the highest level and still comes down and wants to give back to the club that he played for through all his junior career 👏

Blackpool Scorpions U12s 14 – 26 Cadishead Rhinos Community Rugby League Club U12s
The Scorps welcomed the Rhinos down at Common edge the home of rugby league in Blackpool today for an entertaining and hard fought game of rugby league.
The visitors started strongly and put the Scorpions under immediate pressure. Cadishead opened the scoring and raced into an early lead, leaving Blackpool trailing 20-0 after just 12 minutes.
However, the Scorpions showed tremendous character and determination to fight their way back into the contest. Their efforts were rewarded when Jude crossed for a well deserved try, giving the team a much needed boost. Casper then scored the conversion, making the half time score 20-6.
The boys had a swift team talk and came out fighting in the second half. Despite an amazing, potential tackle of the season from Billy, Casdishead scored again 2 mins into the second half. Jude soon added another, before Casper got a third, on the back of some outstanding teamwork.
Those scores lifted the team's morale and sparked a superb response. The Scorpions began communicating better, tackling with greater intensity, running hard, completing their sets, and moving the ball effectively. Every player gave their all and contributed to an outstanding team performance.
Coach Terry was delighted with the attitude and application shown by every member of the squad.
“Everyone put in above 100% today. Another 10 minutes and we could have got a result."
Despite the spirited comeback, the final whistle came with the score at 26-14 in favour of Cadishead Rhinos.
The performance was made even more impressive when compared to the previous meeting between the sides, when the Scorpions travelled to Cadishead and suffered a 52-0 defeat. Today's display showed just how much the players are learning and developing through their hard work in training.
The coaches and parents were immensely proud of the team's efforts, with every player playing their part in a fantastic team performance. Coach Terry said that if he could have handed out an award to every player, he would have done. However, the award winners were:
Opposition Player Award: Thomas
Coaches Player Award: Billy (although the coaches felt everyone deserved recognition)
Parents Player Award: Jude
A special thank you goes to Tom, George and Roxie for their help today, as well as all the parents for their continued support throughout the season. Thanks also to the coaches and parent representatives who generously volunteer their time week in and week out to make days like this possible.
Well done, Scorpions a fantastic comeback and another big step forward for the team!
Not forgetting our visitors Cadishead Rhinos for being a great side and congratulations to them on their win today!

Full Time: Rochdale Mayfield 10 - 6 Blackpool Scorpions U16s
A tough one to take today, but we couldn’t be prouder of the shift the lads put in.
🦂Despite the result, every single player gave their absolute best, and that’s all we ever ask for. A few too many errors meant we spent a lot of time on the back foot, but our try-line defense was immense under constant pressure.
After falling behind to a close-range score and another against the run of play, the boys showed real character to fight back.
Reggie crossed the whitewash in the corner with Ashley adding the extras, but unfortunately, we just ran out of time.We came up slightly short today, but the effort was 100%.
A massive thank you to everyone who travelled to support the boys! 🙌
