Epic underwater adventures at 18 metres

OH BOUY! BOUYANCY IN ACTION NOTIFICATION

Recent courses attended by our Scoobies worked on the premise of mastering bouyancy. In fact, whether it be the Wreck Speciality course or the more recent Advanced Open Water adventures, all courses, and, encouraged by me, is that they work on gaining and retaining neutral bouyancy throughout.

And, it pays off. Putting our Scoobies through skill sets that continously engages them in trimming their positions at whatever depth is set them, means they eventually obtain fabulous diving prowess that is to be admired. Continous bouyancy drills within each dive logged builds on what's been taught.

Here, in the video at around 17/18 metres we have evidence today of slow, purposefull static neutral bouyancy.

Well done to Scoobies Darren and Emma.

CELEBRATING AN AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT NOTIFICATION

Scoobie Emma was one of the Scoobies that achieved the Advanced Open Water Certificate recently after completing the five adventures required to make the full cert.

HOT HOT HOT BAKING ON ICE NOTIFICATION

Our intrepid Scoobies ventured out to Capers today to seek a cool experience and escape the heat. The temperature of the quarry has risen another degree since we dived there a few days ago. And, with the current heatwave it's bound to be sub-tropical waters on our next outing to deliver another open water course.

Well done for donning the gear and for logging two awesome dives. Proud of our Scoobies.

INTO THE DEEP AND A NOTABLE THERMOCLINE NOTIFICATION

The group taking part in the Advanced Open Water completed the remaining two adventures at Capers yesterday. Deep and Multi-Level were the challenges set.

Great to have two Team Scoobie members out too along with Chief Scoobie JohnEdmund who is a legend and a proper trooper lugging my very heavy kit back and forth.

A busy day putting the practical aspects to the theory taught. Excellent navigation from Team DM Chris who got us bang on the sump which is the deepest part of the quarry just slightly exceeding 21 metres with 3 metres visibility. The thermocline was evident at around 16 metres as the water temperature dropped to around 13 degrees.

An excellent day and all naturally tired but exuberant having now completed the five adventures required.
Well done to us all!

Lots of learning and now lots more to practise, practise, practise.

ADVANCING FORWARD AND CHALLENGES MET NOTIFICATION

Yesterday at Capers out we went to deliver the advanced open water part one to some of our Scoobies who embrace a challenge. In this case, three adventure challenges namely Peak Performance Bouyancy, Wreck and Underwater Navigation.

Having battled the busy rain swept motorways we all donned on our kit and sought out the clear serene waters with an enticing 16 degrees and rising.

Well done to the Scoobies who took part and here's to completing the remaining adventures shortly. Great underwater Team work too from Team Scoobie and Chief Scoobie JohnEdmund as shore cover.

Big learning curves, exciting and worthwhile day, three dives and tired Scoobies at the end of the day who looked forward to well deserved zzzzzzzzzz. Awesome job. Well done all

MORE SCOOBIES GETTING THE SEASON STARTED NOTIFICATION

Scoobie Daniel and Scoobie Emma added to a number of our other Scoobies that have been out diving recently. They set out with an agreed plan at Capers and did so with style at their start of the season diving: two scuba dives, zero dramas, and planning sharper than a dive knife. Buoyancy, navigation and buddy skills were spot on, while the roadside contour became their perfect level-training runway. Add a fish-feeding frenzy, laughter and bubbles everywhere, and it all made for a fin-tastic day.

Well done both you and what suberb video evidence of this fun day out! Photos are in the post too. 13 degrees in the water and climbing. Whooohooo. Fabulous.

ERGO GUARDIAN AT THE FORE FRONT OF TECHNOLOGY NOTIFICATION

Embracing the latest tech in BCD manufacturing is our very own Scoobie Darren. Today he took possession of the MARES - just add water Guardian Ergo trim BCD with matching colour coded accessories. The next thing to do is to head out to Capers and start learning how to use the pneumatic air hose and master bouyancy control.
Here's to our venturful Scoobies that are always up for a challenge.

Once bouyancy is mastered using this new tech you enter a whole new domain whether deep, shallow or on the surface.

Looking forward to seeing the journey progress photos Scoobie Darren.
