THE BEAUTIFUL GAME: BEYOND THE SCORELINE ⚽️✨

Sometimes, the result isn't about the numbers on a scoreboard. It’s about heart. It's about resilience. It's about a team that simply refuses to give up. 💚

Our U17s team faced the ultimate test on Bank Holiday Monday in The BBDFL Final. And let us tell you, we could not be PROUDER.

The Challenge:
💥 A Mountain to Climb: We lined up against the league champions, a fantastic side we had lost to 2-5 earlier in the season with a full squad. We knew this was the definition of a challenge.

🔥 Extreme Heat: Temperatures soared over 32°C on a completely exposed pitch.

📉 Short-handed: Due to injuries and the fixture date conflicting with Bank Holidays and Half Term, we had only 10 HEROES take the field against a very good 12 of Prestwich AllStars FC.

The Match & The TRUE Spirit:
From the first whistle, our girls gave it everything they had. Outnumbered, in suffocating heat, they fought for every ball and covered every blade of grass. Their effort was monumental.

The game was rightly abandoned at half-time following a player collapse due to the intense conditions. We are incredibly grateful to the opposing coaches and officials who agreed with this decision instantly—player welfare is EVERYTHING.

PLAYER STATUS UPDATE: The player is recovering safely and is well on the road to recovery. A massive thank you to everyone who helped immediately.

This isn't just about a single match. Look at the journey. This squad started with 17 players, navigated a massive dip in mid-season numbers that would have folded many teams, and STILL fought their way to finish RUNNERS UP in the LEAGUE CUP!

That is the definition of a resilient squad. Any club or manager looking for players with true grit, unbreakable team bond, and a refuse-to-quit attitude needs to pay attention to this group.

This is the definition of talent with character.

From tiny teams on grass pitches…
to cup finals under the lights.

Same smiles.

There were seasons with barely enough players.
Cold Sunday mornings.
Last-minute panic for subs.

It’s quite sad that as a part of their equipment for training & matches, coaches have to include a roll of Dog Poo Bags to pick up poo from on the pitches before players can play.

Please could all dog owners be more responsible and pick up after your dog has done their business.

For many, coaching is therapy — rain, mud, cold nights, and one quiet “Thanks, coach.” ❤👏

The weather has beaten a lot of grass pitches this weekend. Fortunately, we’ve a backup with our 4G pitch hire on a Sunday and have managed to reverse some fixtures.
