💫 My reality of trying to work this summer 😆
Sunday morning 9am 😴 one kid training in the pool, the other on my knee, trying (and failing 😂) to update all the registers ready for our return to the pool in a couple of weeks 🩵

This term has a particularly emotional ending for us, as we’ve said goodbye to several of our original AquaStars families – the swimmers who joined us when we first opened our doors 10 years ago.
Watching these children grow from nervous beginners into confident, capable swimmers has been one of the greatest privileges of our journey and we would like to say a HUGE thank you!
To all of our first families…thank you so so very much for supporting us, believing in us, trusting us to teach your children over the years and for sticking with us whilst we navigate the minefield that is being a small business owner.
We will be forever thankful for your patience, for teaching us so much about how to provide the best customer service and its importance in developing relationships that turn into friendships.
By promoting us to your friends and family, your loyalty has allowed us to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for hundreds (possibly even thousands!) of swimmers across Bolton and we feel so grateful.
While we are incredibly sad to see our lovely swimmers move on, we couldn’t be prouder of everything they’ve accomplished and the wonderful young people they have all become.
You will always be the start of our AquaStars story x

🏊 School Swimming vs Private Swimming Lessons – Are they the same thing?
Each year, just before the summer holidays we receive cancellations because children are due to start school swimming.
We completely understand why parents think this means private lessons are no longer needed—but it’s important to know the difference.
School swimming is designed to help children meet the minimum national curriculum standard. This means schools aim for pupils to:
✅ Swim 25 metres.
✅ Learn the very basics of some strokes depending on their abilities.
✅ Perform simple self-rescue skills.
With large class sizes, limited pool time, varying abilities and only a handful of sessions each year, teachers have the challenging task of introducing swimming safely to everyone.
Private swimming lessons are different.
At AquaStars we:
💙 Teach correct technique from the very beginning.
💙 Keep class sizes small so every child receives individual tasks.
💙 Build stamina, confidence and water safety—not just distance.
💙 Correct bad habits before they become difficult to change.
💙 Help children progress far beyond the minimum expected standard.
💙 Introduce safe practices during each lesson.
Swimming 25 metres doesn’t necessarily mean a child is a confident, efficient or safe swimmer. We would actually recommend the prefect distance to achieve would be 1 mile (64 lengths!) before ending your child’s swimming journey.
The majority of our swimmers do go on to achieve this distance! Meaning if they ever got in to water trouble they’d most likely be strong enough and have the skills to get to safety!
Our goal has never been to simply help children reach the minimum criteria. We want children to become strong, capable swimmers who can enjoy the water safely for life and even to progress on to competitive swimming if they want to!
Many of our swimmers attend both school swimming and private lessons because they complement each other perfectly.
School swimming provides valuable water experience.
Private lessons provide the personalised coaching and technical development that help children reach their full potential.
The best swimmers don’t stop learning when school swimming begins—they keep building on those foundations. 💙🏊
