π¦ Junior Weekend Round-Up π¦
Another busy weekend for our young Lions and, as always, plenty of rugby, plenty of smiles and probably plenty of kit that still hasnβt made its way back into the correct bag! π
A huge well done to all of our players from Under 6s through to Under 13s who represented the club this weekend. There were festivals, friendlies, league games and cup matches taking place across the region, with some fantastic performances and plenty of Players of the Game recognised along the way. π
A massive thank you also goes to our volunteer coaches, team managers, match officials and parents. Without your time, effort and commitment every week, none of this would be possible.
πΈ Parents, coaches and supporters - letβs see your photos!
Drop your pictures from the weekend in the comments below. Whether itβs tries, tackles, team huddles, celebrations or just children pulling ridiculous faces in the background, weβd love to see them!
And if youβve got a little Lion aged 3-6 looking for a new adventure, our Cubs section is always welcoming new players. Free sessions every Saturday and continuing right through the summer holidays. ππ

π¦ Junior Weekend Fixtures π¦
Another busy Sunday ahead for our young Lions, with teams travelling across the region and a couple of big home fixtures at The Den.
Good luck to all of our players, coaches and volunteers taking part this weekend. Play hard, enjoy yourselves and make some memories. ππ
A special mention to our Under 7s, who have already been in action today at the Hindley festival. Congratulations to Isabella and Charlie on picking up the Player of the Match awards! πβ
If youβre looking for something to do on Sunday, why not get down to The Den and support our Under 11s and Under 12s as they fly the Lions flag at home.
Good luck everyone! π¦

π BIRTHDAY SHOUT-OUT π
The club doesnβt normally do birthday posts, but weβre making an exception for two volunteers who have done so much for Westhoughton Lions over the years.
Today Claire Lowe turns 40.
Next Thursday Ryan W**d turns 50.
Between them theyβve given hundreds of hours to the club, helping players, supporting events and keeping everything ticking along behind the scenes.
Claire is joining the β40s Clubβ this week. Which means she is now officially old enough to start saying things like βI remember whenβ¦β and βthey donβt make them like they used to.β
Ryan, however, is moving into a completely different category and can now be considered a heritage asset. We have already contacted the local council to enquire about adding a statue of him next to that greyhound and cricket stump statue theyβve put up on Cricketers way!
Happy Birthday to you both and thank you for everything you do for the Lions.
Have a great celebrationβ¦ and Ryan, donβt forget to stretch before the masters game today, no one actually knows how to use the defibβ¦.π¦ππ

βοΈ Six Weeks. Endless Energy. We've Got An Answer. π¦π
β° SUMMER HOLIDAYS ARE COMING... CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARNING! β°
The school summer holidays are only a few weeks away.
Right now, the kids are still busy with school, clubs, and routines.
Fast forward to July and you'll hear:
β "I'm bored."
β "What's for dinner?"
β "Can I go on my Xbox?"
β "I'm bored." (again, approximately 14 seconds later)
So why not get ahead of the game?
At Westhoughton Lions, we're always welcoming new players across all junior age groups, from our Cubs section right through to our teenage teams.
π Boys and girls welcome
π No experience needed
π Qualified coaches
π Great facilities (bar for the adults...)
π New friendships
π Plenty of fresh air and exercise
Whether your child is sporty, shy, energetic, confident, or somewhere in between, rugby league is a fantastic way to build confidence, stay active and be part of something special.
And if nothing else, it might just tire them out enough for a quiet evening at home...
Parents, consider this your official opportunity to get organised before six weeks of "I'm bored" begins.
Drop us a message for more information or come along and give it a try.

π¦ Junior Weekend Round-Up π¦
Another packed weekend for our junior section with Lions teams representing the club across the region from Saturday morning through to Sunday afternoon.
The weekend began on Saturday with our girls taking part in a festival hosted by Farnley Falcons. For many of the girls it was their first festival experience and they were absolutely brilliant throughout the day. A huge thank you to Ince Rose Bridge Pantheresses who joined forces with our girls and helped make it a fantastic experience for everyone involved. ππ
Sunday then saw the rest of our junior teams in action:
π Under 7s β Festival at Wigan Bulldogs
π Under 8s β Festival at Home
π Under 9s Blues β Festival at Wigan St Judes
π Under 9s Yellows β Festival at Golborne
π Under 10s β Home to Thatto Heath
π Under 11s β Away at Ashton Bears
π Under 12s β Won 12-6 vs Folly Lane Crusaders
π Under 13s β Won 38-6 vs Folly Lane
π Under 14s β Lost 28-14 away at Clock Face
π Under 16s β Won 36-8 vs Blackpool Scorpions
A huge well done to every player who pulled on a Lions shirt this weekend. Whether you were playing your first festival game or your latest competitive fixture, you represented the club brilliantly.
As always, thank you to our coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters and everyone who gives up their time each week to make junior rugby possible.
Now for the important questionβ¦ how many water bottles, gum shields and hoodies have been left behind this weekend? π€¦ββοΈπ
