The Bulls DSC Wheelchair basketball team set up in 1982 in Bolton, Lancashire. We train from 8.30 - 10.30 each Thursday

The Bolton Bulls are a wheelchair basketball club (Registered Charity number 1057350) currently playing within the 3rd division of the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball National League. The club is based at Smithills Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Road, Bolton, BL1 6JS and trains every Thursday Night between 8.30pm and 10.30pm. Being involved in a sporting activity provides the disabled people of Bolton/Bury and the surrounding areas with access to fitness, support from other individuals that may have knowledge of issues surrounding disabilities and also provides social interaction that is valuable to a person's health and well being. This does not however; preclude the club only to involvement from the disabled community. The Bolton Bulls wheelchair basketball club is open to all irrespective of s*x, race, religion, political persuasion or disability who will give active support in promoting sport and recreational activities for a wide range of physical handicaps and age groups. We currently have players ranging from 18-65 years old, both able bodied and disabled.

🎂 Happy Bulls Birthday, Sacha! 🏀

As our Fundraising Co-Ordinator, Sacha does an enormous amount for our charity off the court, and has recently come back to training and registered to play for the team as well!

After a good few years away, we're delighted to have her as part of our squad for both the Development League and Women's Cup this season.

We reckon years of her husband and son playing for us and talking basketball non-stop is what's got her joining in again. Probably the only way she can get a word in 🤣

🎂 Happy Bulls Birthday, Holly! 🏀

Holly is the newest and youngest member of our team. She started coming to our training sessions earlier this year to volunteer for her Duke of Edinburgh Award, but with her volunteering now over, she's decided to stick around!

Last month she made her debut for The Bulls, playing three full quarters across the wins against Liverpool and Dundee Dragons.

In March, Holly will be in our Women's team for the UKWB Women's Cup, and with the amount of "goals" (inside joke) she's scoring in training lately, we can't wait to see how she gets on.

🎂 Happy Bulls Birthday, Hannah! 🏀

This time last year we were marking Hannah getting through her first ever game. 12 months on she has represented our inaugural women's team at the UKWB Women's Cup in March, she's part of our Development League squad, and she'll be back with the women's team again this season.

She also lends us a hand with our photography and social media when she can, which we're very grateful for. 📸

Hannah, we all wish you a very happy birthday, and look forward to celebrating your playing achievements again this time next year 😎

A solid start to the season for The Bulls today who came away with two wins from two at today's round of UKWB Development League West.

We took 9 players today, including a junior debutant, and everyone got good minutes in both games.

Of course, there's always room for improvement and we've come away pleased with our performances and seeing the work we've put in at training paying off, but we also know what we need to work on going into the next round against Rhyl Raptors and Conwy Thunder .

Secretary, teammate, and our longest serving active player, a title he has been trying to give away for years.

There's no lie in either, because Steve is spending his birthday on the road to Barrow with us for the first round of UKWB Development West against Liverpool and Dundee Dragons. Nothing says celebration quite like the A590 and two games of wheelchair basketball. 😎

Maths teacher by trade, assistant coach at the club, and comfortably the loudest voice in any sports hall we visit. 📢

Spare a thought for the maths teacher who has heard the number 67 shouted roughly 6,700 times this year. At least he can tell them it's a prime number...

John takes charge as our match day coach in the Development League this season, starting this Sunday. If you hear instructions arriving from the bench, you'll know exactly who they came from, and so will everyone in the car park.

Enjoy your day John, just don't celebrate too hard. We've got training on Thursday and games to prepare for!

🎉 Happy Bulls Birthday, Sam! 🎂

One of the first names on our teamsheet, and one of the hardest workers in the gym. Sam is at training week in, week out, always putting a shift in and always chasing the next bit of improvement, whether that's his shooting or another part of his game.

That work doesn't go unnoticed. Sam is a huge part of what we do now, and he'll be a key player for The Bulls for years to come. 🐂

No rest for the birthday boy either, because he's straight back on court with us this Sunday as we open the season against Liverpool and Dundee Dragons. 🏀

Nathan has survived being hunted through the wilderness on national television… so naturally his next sensible life choice was wheelchair basketball.😂

We hope your birthday brings plenty of cake, absolutely no Predators hiding behind trees, and considerably fewer people trying to chase you down than you get on court.

WHAT. A. GAME.

GB Masters leave Bolton with a narrow one point victory over The Bulls, in what was a close game throughout.

The Bulls went into this game with a squad of mixed abilities, including several players who do and could play at Division 3 level, with others who are still developing, and a few players who have never played competitive games before. We also had Bulls alumni and Commonwealth Games silver medallist Kayli English join us for the game - thank you Kayli!

Whilst the result was close, and we had our opportunities to win it, that wasn't the important thing today.

Today was an opportunity for our experienced players to get valuable minutes against a very experienced team in GB Masters, with many of the players playing above our level still, including a few playing at the top.

Even then, we got all of our players good minutes today, rotating options throughout the game. Everyone enjoyed themselves and played really well, showing just how much potential we have as a team. We can all be proud of that performance.

Thank you to Bruce and the GB Masters team for the opportunity and experience, and good luck in the competitions that lie ahead!
