2026 Singles League - Results & Final Tables.
There is a saying throughout sport that "it isn't over until it's over". That was never more true than today, when the final two games were played in Division One.

John Muldoon 21; Paul Willcocks 17.
Carol Saunders 21; John Haigh 10.

Carol won her first game in the division and in doing so, deprived John Haigh of the title and handed it to Chi Ming Kong in his very first season in the League.

Congratulations to all who took part, and many thanks for your understanding and co-operation.

We have lost a member of Division Two in Jack Glass, who sadly passed away with one game left to play. In previous years I had managed to persuade Jack that the demands of the League, including the marking duties, were too much for him. This year he had insisted: he explained to me; my head tells me not to, but my heart tells me to do it, so I gave in. He nearly made it.

Good luck and I hope to see the rest of you, and perhaps some more of the members next season. I firmly believe that playing singles, if you truly analyse how you play the game, teaches you more about playing bowls than anything else.

Club Singles Championship for the Readey Trophy.
For the first time in several years the weather forecast was less than positive; it was in fact forecast to rain all afternoon. The reality was more optimistic; some soft rain fell in the morning, and there was a heavy spell during the second round of matches, but overall it there was less rain than anticipated. The day was a success overall, particularly for Helen Braddock and Gordon Niven who qualified for Finals Weekend. It was particularly good to see more ladies entering, and doing well.

Fantastic performance by Hayley. Just falling short with a final bowl that missed the jack by a coat of paint. A game that was worthy of being streamed on Bowls TV from start to finish. Hayley has represent her family, friends, club and county incredibly well. Her journey has been incredible with lots more to come.

Balloted Australian Pairs for the J&B Branche Trophy

There were sixteen entrants giving two groups of four teams each, who all played each other in a round robin.​

Group One winner was the duo of James Campbell and Phil Syddall with 4 points and a +13 shot difference. The runner up was the team of Dennis Williams and Ken Hayes, also with 4 points but a shot difference of +4.

Group Two winner with a clean sweep and 6 points was the pair of John Haigh and Tony Davies. The runner up with 4 points was Duncan Crisp and John Riley.

In the semi-final, James & Phil overcame Duncan & John. Dennis & Ken overwhelmed John & Tony. Both winners qualified for Finals Weekend on 12/13 September 2026

Brilliant performance from Bolton/Lancashire ladies. They put up one hell of a fight against a very strong opponent. Taking the match to a last end shootout is fantastic. Hold your heads up high and say just wait till next year.

2026 Singles League - League Table and Results for Division One.
Peter Gillett back problem is taking longer to get better than anticipated, so he has reluctantly decided to withdraw from the Singles League. We wish Peter all the best.
As a consequence I have removed his results completely from the League table below.

Massive congratulations to Hayley Milligan on reaching the National u24 ladies singles quarter finals. All at Bolton and Lancashire are so proud of your achievement. Losing in an incredibly tight 21-19 match against a proven player is something to be proud off. Looking forward to going all the way next year.
