🌪️🖤💛 A Goodbye From Us 💛🖤🌪️

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post.

I originally set up this page to share the journey of the Astley Bridge Cyclones, as a parent of Elijah, the team’s goalkeeper, and over time it has become somewhere we have been able to capture so many memories, matches, moments and milestones from this little team. 📸⚽

Elijah has been part of the Cyclones since 2024, and during that time the team has become a huge part of our lives.

But the time has now come for Elijah to begin a new football adventure elsewhere.

As parents, sometimes you have to make decisions based on what you believe is best for your child, their happiness and their development. This is one of those moments.

That certainly doesn’t make saying goodbye any easier.

There will always be a place in our family’s hearts for the Astley Bridge Cyclones and for the memories Elijah has made with the boys along the way. From training sessions and matchdays to wins, losses, laughs and everything in between, it has been a chapter we will never forget. 🌪️💛

As for this page, the socials may be taken over by another parent going forward, although at the moment I genuinely don’t know what will happen with them.

Whatever happens next, we want to wish every single one of the Cyclones, their families and the coaches all the very best for the rest of the season and for the future.

We will always be proud to have been part of the journey.

Thank you for all the memories. 💛🖤

🌪️⚽️ MATCH REPORT | ASTLEY BRIDGE CYCLONES U9s ⚽️🌪️

🆚 Beechfield United Storm
📅 Saturday 19th September 2026

Another weekend, another proper test for the Cyclones... and this one came with the full British grassroots package: wind, rain and parents wondering why they didn’t bring a bigger umbrella. 🌧️💨😂

The boys welcomed Beechfield United Storm and from the first whistle it was clear we were in for a competitive game.

The Cyclones started brightly, getting themselves into some really good attacking positions and causing problems going forward. We were unlucky not to get our noses in front early on, but the signs were there. 👏⚽️

Beechfield provided a strong and physical challenge, but the boys stood their ground, competed for everything and kept battling. 💪🌪️

One of the biggest positives today wasn’t just what happened with the ball, but what was happening between the players.

The lads are really starting to understand that football is a squad game. Encouraging each other, communicating, backing one another up and working together when things get difficult.

That development matters just as much as anything on the scoresheet. 🖤💛

🏆 PLAYER AWARDS

⭐ PLAYERS’ PLAYER – ELIJAH 🧤

Captain Max Murray chose Elijah as his Players’ Player.

Elijah was fantastic between the sticks, constantly communicating with the players in front of him and producing some tremendous saves to keep the Cyclones in the game.

Plenty of noise from the goalkeeper too... which, to be fair, probably surprises absolutely nobody. 😂🧤

A brilliant performance, Elijah! 👏

💪 COACHES’ PLAYER – NOAH

This week’s Coaches’ Player went to Noah!
Starting in defence alongside Max Cooper, Noah put in a strong performance before moving into midfield and helping drive the team forward.
And then there were those TWO goal-line clearances. 😮‍💨🛡️

Right place. Right time. Twice.

A huge effort from Noah and thoroughly deserved! 👏

⚡ PARENTS’ PLAYER – KALEB

Chosen by Max Murray’s uncle, the Parents’ Player award went to Kaleb.
Kaleb contributed at both ends of the pitch with brilliant footwork, loads of determination and two goals to show for it.

One of those coming directly from a free kick. 🎯🔥

Super effort, Kaleb! 👏⚽️

⚽️ CYCLONES GOALS

⚽️ Eden – assisted by Max Murray
⚽️ Kaleb – assisted by Noah
🎯 Kaleb – free kick

🌧️ TOUGH CONDITIONS. BIG EFFORT.

With the wind howling and the rain coming down, the boys showed plenty of determination and character.

It was a tough, competitive game against a strong opponent, but the Cyclones kept going right until the end and once again showed how much they’re developing, both individually and as a team. 🌪️

There will always be things to work on. That’s football. But the effort, teamwork and encouragement between the lads today were huge positives to take forward.

WELL DONE, CYCLONES! 🌪️⚽️🖤💛

Keep working. Keep encouraging. Keep believing.
