Match Highlights | Astley Bridge Cyclones v Boothstown Bandits β½πͺοΈ
On a sunny Saturday morning, the Cyclones took on a strong higher-tier Boothstown Bandits side. Well organised and physical throughout, the Bandits provided a tough test, but the Cyclones boys were more than ready for the challenge.
It was also great to welcome Cian back into the squad after a couple of weeks out, and he returned full of energy and determination.
Boothstown started the game quickly and took an early lead. It could have been worse had it not been for Elijah, who was once again alert and in outstanding form between the posts. Hugo was equally impressive in defence, helping to keep the Bandits at bay during a difficult opening spell.
The second 10-minute period saw the Cyclones grow into the game and pull a goal back. Noah grabbed his first of the match following a clever assist from Malik, who had already worked tirelessly across the pitch. Boothstown responded strongly, however, with their quick attacking play earning them another couple of goals. Despite this, the Cyclones tightened things up defensively, with Kaleb looking solid at the back and Cian working hard to track back while also helping launch attacks going forward.
The third 10 minutes saw the Cyclones really fight their way back into the contest. Josh produced a fantastic finish before Noah struck again to close the gap further.
The final period brought a noticeable shift in confidence for the Cyclones, and their football began to flow. Quick passing from Kaleb and Noah created two excellent opportunities for Malik, who calmly pulled another two goals back for the away side. Every player showed tremendous character and determination, repaying Elijah for his superb saves earlier in the game. After a brilliant passage of play, Josh added another well-taken goal to cap off a strong attacking display.
Neither side was willing to give in, but the final goal of the game belonged to Noah. Having moved into a more defensive role, he still found the energy to arrive at the back post and slot the ball calmly into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick.
There are still a few things to work on, but this was an excellent display of character, teamwork, and resilience from the Cyclones boys against tough opposition.

Went to Noah, who delivered what was probably his best performance yet in an Astley Bridge shirt. Alongside his hat-trick, his hard work in midfield and defence showed exactly what a complete team performance looks like.
Well done, Cyclones β keep building, keep battling, keep growing! πͺοΈβ½

Matchday Report and Highlights | Astley Bridge Cyclones v Ladybridge Wanderers β½π€π
This morning saw the Cyclones welcome Ladybridge Wanderers to Stapleton Road. Ladybridge have been a bit of a bogey team for the boys in the past, but today the lads were determined to put that right β and what a performance they produced!
Player Performances
Elijah
An absolutely phenomenal performance between the sticks. Elijah was alert to everything all game, pulling off some outstanding saves and commanding his area like a top professional goalkeeper. Unlucky with the opening goal due to the muddy conditions, but he responded brilliantly and kept the team in the game time and time again.
Kaleb
Started in defence and was an absolute rock at the back. Calm, composed, and always making the right decisions on the ball. His versatility once again proved vital, and when pushed further forward he showed his striker instincts with a superb hat-trick performance!
Noah
A true team-player performance from Noah today. His work rate in midfield was outstanding, including a brilliant assist for Malikβs goal. Later dropping into defence, he stood strong against constant pressure and timed his tackles to perfection.
Josh
Josh worked tirelessly in midfield, linking defence and attack throughout the game. Technically excellent on the ball, he always looked to make the right pass and was unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet.
Malik
Another captainβs performance from Malik. His ability to protect the ball under pressure caused problems for Ladybridge all game, twisting and turning defenders inside out. He also showed great versatility by dropping into midfield and working relentlessly for the team.
Riley
Without doubt one of Rileyβs best performances since Iβve been watching the lads. Weβve been working hard in training on β3 touch, pass and move,β and Riley executed it perfectly today. Sharp thinking, quick passing, and brilliant movement β he linked the whole team together superbly.
The Match
The game started at a frantic pace, with both teams pressing hard from kick-off. It quickly became clear that both goalkeepers were in top form.
Ladybridge struck first after a quick kick-in led to a hopeful effort that awkwardly bounced in the muddy goalmouth before slipping under Elijah. Very unfortunate for him, as the conditions played a huge part.
The Cyclones responded brilliantly.
Noah battled hard to win the ball in midfield before threading a perfect pass through to Malik, who calmly lifted a clever lob over the goalkeeper to level the score.
Game on. β½οΈβ½οΈ
The second period was incredibly tight, and without both goalkeepers this could easily have turned into a goal fest. Elijahβs shot-stopping was unbelievable, refusing to let anything past him.
At the other end, Kaleb showed exactly why he loves scoring goals. Winning the ball in midfield, he powered forward on a driving run before coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to put the Cyclones ahead.
The third period showcased the boysβ game management brilliantly. Riley slotted into defence, with Malik and Josh working tirelessly in midfield, giving Ladybridge no time on the ball. Kaleb also dropped back to help the team defensively. No goals scored, no goals conceded β and as a former defender myself, that made me very proud!
The final period was full of drama.
A change is positioning saw Noah come in the defence and he was solid with well-timed tackles but more importantly, he was disciplined and didnβt go chasing the ball.
Ladybridge pushed forward hard and eventually managed to grab a couple of well-worked goals. But once again, the Cyclones showed incredible character and refused to give up.
The attacking play from Malik, Josh, Riley, and Kaleb was excellent. Quick passing and clever movement created the opening for Malik to assist Kaleb for another goal before Kaleb completed his hat trick in style, calmly slotting the ball underneath the advancing goalkeeper.
A fantastic end to a brilliant game.
Overall
An outstanding team performance from the boys today. They battled for each other from start to finish, showed real character, and played some excellent pass-and-move football. The teamwork, effort, and determination on display were fantastic to watch.
