The curved shank helps the hook turn quickly and aggressively. A versatile pattern for bottom baits and wafters, and well suited to rigs where strong turning mechanics are important.

That longer curved shank creates plenty of leverage to help the hook turn and take hold. A good choice for blowback-style rigs and bottom-bait or wafter presentations.

A specialist pattern with an out-turned eye for use with stiff hooklink materials. Ideally suited to Chod Rigs, Hinged Stiff Rigs and other stiff pop-up presentations.
Of course, these aren't hard-and-fast rules. Anglers use different hook patterns in all sorts of rigs, and confidence in your setup counts for a lot. The important thing is understanding why a particular hook shape works with a particular presentation.
