Great session yesterday!
The headlock defense drills were a true classic—old-school but still effective and proven over time. The session flowed much better once we separated the age groups. Hopefully, we can continue adding more sessions gradually. As we discussed, once your child becomes more coordinated and shows greater interest, we’ll move him to the Wednesday class, which focuses more on technique than play.

Hi Parents 👋

After trying two mixed sessions this week, we realized that having all ages together was too chaotic and not safe or productive. To keep everyone safe and learning effectively, we are splitting the classes by age:
• Wednesdays → Over 12s only
• Sundays → Any age

Younger kids will move up to Wednesdays once they show enough focus & coordination. This way, everyone trains safely, learns better, and enjoys the sessions more 💪🥋
Hopefully we will add another session .

Welcome to Toy Factory BJJ!

Here, nothing is compulsory — all we need is your trust and your child’s good energy.

Classes are 1 hour long, and about 80% of that is playful Jiu-Jitsu. Kids don’t just train — they laugh, roll, and learn along the way.

👕 No pressure on clothing — regular sportswear works perfectly (just no zippers, so we keep everyone scratch-free). When the time feels right, you can find a gi ( kimono ) that suits your child — until then, play comes first.

🤸 Parents of little ones are welcome to jump on the mats and join the fun at no extra cost. Train, play, and share the experience together!

All classes are for kids and teens under 18. As our team grows, we’ll split groups by age and add more days — keeping training safe, fun, and full of energy.

Our journey began a few years ago in Christchurch, inside an old toy factory called Escor. With just a few mats and a passion for Jiu-Jitsu, we started small—and one of our students suggested the name Toy Factory BJJ. It’s a reminder of our roots and the playful spirit we bring to training.

From those humble beginnings, we’ve already achieved big things. Even with just two competitors at the end of the pandemic in 2023, we proudly brought home both gold and silver medals.

I’m Nabil, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and karate black belt, with a lifelong love for martial arts that has taken me around the world to learn from some of the best. By my side is Samir, also a BJJ black belt and a three-time gold medalist, whose dedication and skill help drive our team forward.

At Toy Factory BJJ, our motto is: “No ego, far we go.” For us, Jiu-Jitsu is about more than just competition—it’s about growth, respect, and community. As Albert Einstein once said: “Play is the highest form of research.”

With that spirit, our mission is simple: to create champions on the mats, and good people off them. We’d love for you to come join our journey. 💪🥋
