Weekend 4 - Progression + advanced work.
The training has finished but the hard work has only just begun. Now to nail the names of the exercises, the order, the transitions. And to then step back and really look at the bodies we are teaching and give them what they need.
This weekend really cemented my understanding that everything we need for every body is in the Method and in all of the equipment in the studio. Now I trust the process.
Thank you to Holly and Nasia for guiding us through each weekend.

Happy International Pilates Day!
Teaching since 2012, doing Pilates waaaaay before then, but now finding a real connection to the method thanks to my classical training .pilates.amersham - and the amazing group I’m learning with. Couldn’t ask for a more supportive studio to take my teaching to the next level.

Just hanging out on a sunny afternoon with
Building up to our 300 hour exam.
Sometimes I feel a bit like a swan - calm and graceful on the surface, paddling madly under the surface. But practice makes me calmer each day, building the strength and connection to get through the exercises either as a body or finding calm and quiet as the instructor.

So apparently looking back to 2016 is a thing on here.
2016 I was working and I’d also just started teaching at my home studio on new equipment and still quite tentative in my teaching.
10 years on I’m very grateful to still be teaching most of my clients from back then - plus a whole load of new ones - on very different equipment, I’m still in regular touch with the best group of comprehensive teachers in & around my local area, who I consider real supportive friends, and I’m now taking my first steps into teaching classical Pilates through my current training .pilates.amersham.
To my 2016 self I would have said keep doing you, don’t copy anyone else. Find your own voice, be your own teacher, find your own path.
10 years older and wiser. Still learning. Maybe a little bit greyer!

1 month to go til my first exam - testing 100 hours of self practice, teaching and learning.
Spending an hour 1:1 with on Friday to go through the whole Intro series - mat, reformer, Cadillac, high chair and wall - was so appreciated. Listening carefully to her cues and appreciating those hands on moments to find more from the movement. There’s always more to find!
