We will continue to post them in the Facebook Group and in the newsletter.

Happy running

Boxing Day Run

Gareth Barker has offered to lead the 9mm group from the Leisure Centre on Boxing Day

Please see his note below

‘Those of you that are joining - although it'll probably be locked, I'll be at the track entrance ready to leave at 8am. Hope there's plenty of you willing to get up bright and early to join me!’

Anyone wishing to join him please let him know and arrange timings and also so he knows how many to expect and that we won’t be alone.

Also as previous message Alan Bent’s group will be leaving from the Mercedes Garage at 8am

20/12/2019

*PLEASE NOTE UPDATED TIME TO MEET ALAN BENT’S GROUP*

Run off the Christmas cheer on our Boxing day run

Each year on Boxing day we have our annual BFR run. Traditionally we have a number of options as follows:

Start at Bracknell Leisure Centre at 8am where (we need a run leader volunteer please) will lead a 9mm pace group. It is likely that the car park will be closed that day so you may need to park in side roads or if you are really keen run to the Leisure Centre!! It is about 7 miles to Virginia Water so with the loop of the VW lake and then heading home you will be running about 18 miles. That will burn off the Xmas pud for sure!! - we do need a run leader to take the 9mm group please so raise your hand/s if you are happy to help.

Next stop is the Mercedes Garage on the London Road at 8am where Alan Bent will lead a 10mm group through Ascot to Virginia Water. It is about 5 miles to Virginia Water, so total miles there and back with the loop will be 14 miles.

Next stop is to meet up at Blacknest Gate at 9am and do a 4 mile loop round the lake. This will be for all pace abilities but recognizing some may want to go faster than others we will split into multiple groups (determined on the day, depending on who shows up), it is about having fun and being social as well as running! You can do two loops (if you want) – depends how much fun you want to have (and how long you want to be out of the house for…).

It is up to you how many miles you do. If you want to just run to Virginia Water one way, there will be people to get a lift back to your starting point that have driven to Blacknest Gate. Tis the season of goodwill – so please offer this if you drive to VW with spare seats.

Note: Best parking for Blacknest Gate is in the Virginia Water South car park that can be found just past the Belvedere pub, on your left. It costs £3 and you can only pay by credit or debit card. Postcode on the website is SL5 7SB, but this doesn’t seem to be very accurate, so do some research before blindly following sat nav if you don’t know where it is! If you can car share and save car miles and the environment please do.

So just to ask one more time .... we need a run leader to take the 9mm group from Bracknell Leisure Centre please!! If you would like to volunteer to lead this group please email in to [email protected]

Give In Memory - Scannappeal 30/11/2019

Good afternoon all

Further to the sad news of the passing of Chau See. Lisa Gower , Chau’s partner, has asked for any donations to go to the Scanappeal. High Wycombe are raising funds to buy an MRI scanner. When Chau needed a scan he had to be transferred to Stoke Mandeville ..this took one whole day two doctors and two nurses....resources that could have been saved if the scan could have been done at High Wycombe.

The link to the Scanappeal is https://scannappeal.org.uk/ways-to-give/give-in-memory/ Lisa has a fund set up in his name.

All being well Lisa and Chau’s youngest daughter, Lilee will be at Handy Cross tomorrow where we will have the bands being distributed by BFR.

Thank you in advance for all your support.💚💚💚

Give In Memory - Scannappeal Giving a gift in memory of someone’s life has great meaning; allowing a loved one to be remembered and helps others at the same time. Whilst it is always sad to receive donations of this kind, we are always extremely grateful.

Good afternoon to all

Further to the sad news of Chau See passing away , I have been in touch with his partner Lisa Gower.

I have taken the liberty of ordering 500 of these wrist bands in Green with black print saying on them.

They will be delivered to me tomorrow and would like BFR to give them out to the runners to wear at Handy Cross XC on Sunday please in memory of Chau See. (His favourite race as well !)😀

Lisa is made up about these wristbands. 💚💚💚

In fact Lisa and one of Chau’s daughters, Lilee, will be coming to run as well and in Lisa’s words...

“There are so many happy, funny stories and memories of Chau that it will be lovely to share with like minded people and friends. It really has made my day hearing about this . This is right up his street! x”

So Handy Cross XC is definitely

Another great turnout at Sandhurst XC this morning.

Thank you to all 64 who turned up to run. Unfortunately we had a few DNFs so 60 finishers in total.

Hope everyone is ok who took a tumble, I believe there were a few - some worse than others 😔

It was a tough course so massive kudos to everyone especially the nine newbies. Great day to do your first XC 😆

Can we beat the 92 we had at Datchet ? 💚💚💚

22/11/2019

Happy Friday everyone!

Post from Sandhurst ref Sunday’s XC event

Sandhurst Joggers XC - 24/11/19 - Start time 11am

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Lord Wandsworth College on Sunday 24th November.

The postcode for the event is: RG29 1TB. This postcode takes you to a small entrance beside a primary school. Make sure you continue to the main entrance of the College further along the main road leading through the village of Long Sutton. The Four Horseshoes Pub is right next to the main (correct) College entrance, their postcode is RG29 1TA, we suggest you use this one.

Parking: When you get to the event please follow marshals carefully to ensure that you park in the correct place. Parking is extremely limited, so please CAR SHARE as much as possible. If we run out of parking space within the College, there is nowhere to park off-site due to the nature of the country roads.

Team Captains or those from your club with the gazebo will be permitted to park in Car Park One which is closest to the start area. Please let one of our parking marshals know you have your club's gazebo and they will let you through. Only one car per club will be granted access.

Facilities: We do have access to toilets, but these are limited in number. We DO NOT have access to changing rooms, please arrive ready to race. To safeguard any pupils who might still be on site please do not urinate anywhere within the College grounds other than the designated toilets.

Course: The course is a challenging 6 mile course. It is two laps of mainly woodland trails. The trails can get very muddy with some deep puddles. It is NOT suitable for spikes, but trail shoes would be ideal. It is rutted and rocky in places so please take care when running and overtaking other runners.

Food: We will not be providing any cups or plates so please bring your own cups. There will be plenty of tea and food to go round.

If you have any questions about the event please feel free to post on here and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Team Captains, please can you promote car sharing to your teams?

Good luck to all runners.

Wayne Boardman (Race Director)

We may also the BFR pages as forms of communication, but these are linked to the above channels

PLEASE do not post to the Committee in this group, we will not answer, and can easily miss things
