People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are often drawn to water and have a greater tendency to wander. Royal Life Saving Australia research shows that children and adolescents with ASD are three times more likely to drown than children without ASD.
We're constantly developing our resources to be more accessible for ASD and non-verbal children and are pleased to share our new SEND-friendly colouring sheet and visual story, which uses a combination of symbols and words to guide children about water safety in the home π‘

Rip currents are a major hazard on beaches. Knowing how to spot and react to them is crucial for your safety.
π What is a rip current? Powerful, narrow channels of fast-moving water flowing from the shore out to sea.
π How to spot one: Look for discoloured water, choppy/foamy areas, breaks in the waves, and water moving out to sea.
π What to do if caught: Stay calm, float on your back, signal for help, and avoid swimming back to shore, against the current.
For more detailed tips to stay safe, read the full blog post on our website, link below π
