It's with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our own, Haidar Shah.

Still in shock at the news, words don't begin to explain this. It's been a privilege to have known such a kind-hearted young man, forever in our hearts 💕

Gone way too soon, but never forgotten. You've left your mark on us all and truly will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time ❤️

Haidar, rest in peace my brother. We love you! ❤️

Icon Athletic 7 - 1 Shelf Reserves

Yesterday saw the icons return to Peel Park for another goal fest. The sides both fought hard in the first half but it was the icons who went into the break 2-0 up after a beautiful finish from our captain Rohan Thomas (Ryan Whitfield assist) and a first goal of the day for Haidar Shah (Izaac Hurtault assist).

The second half was a very very strong performance from the icons. Starting from the back, we performed with class and composure for 90 mins. With the step in goalkeeper and player of the season last year making another appearance in net today, cheers Tom Lawler-Davis, and an outstanding defensive display from Alex Dunne, George Prescott and Lewis Lunn, the rest of the lads had the confidence to go and enjoy their football. 7-1 final score and not a single bad performance by anyone in an icons shirt.

A world beating performance by Haidar Shah, 3 goals and 2 assists!
2 goals and 2 assists for Ryan Whitifeld.
1 goal and 1 assist for Sam Thomas
1 goal for Rohan Thomas
And an assist each for Connor Banham and Izaac Hurtault

After the game we went back to the lovely The Malt Kiln - Bradford again for some food and beers, please come up and join us after our home games and show some support to an amazing pub with great prices!

Next week sees us away in Boothtown for another league game before our first county cup fixture of the season away in Barnoldswick the following week.

Icon Athletic FC 5 - 2 Jacks House ⚽️

The first home fixture of the season for the Icons resulted in a comfortable 5-2 victory over Jacks House. 🏆

A very hot day and slow start to the game saw the icons go a goal down but they kept fighting and managed to go into halftime at 4-1 after a goal from Rohan Thomas and a first half hattrick for Rico Horvath, finished off with a penalty after Ryan Whitfields effort was punched off the line by an outfield player.

The second half was a strong display from the icons, who managed to hold out the lead for the remainder of the game despite conceding a second. With great spells of possession, fancy flicks, brilliant passing and many more chances, a 5th and final goal came for Lewis Redfern, which was taken superbly!

A brilliant display in what proved to be very difficult weather conditions and a good result to get the points coming in this season.

After the game we headed back to our new home, The Malt Kiln - Bradford , who put on some lovely food for us and made us all feel super welcome. We can't wait to share many more beers, and hopefully lots of celebrations with everyone there!

Onto next Saturdays game next, away at The Astleys against Warley Rangers. We had 2 very good games against Warley last season, where both sides put on a show, so we should be in for another treat.

Icon Athletic FC vs Jacks House ⚽️
Saturday 9th September, 14:15 🕒

After a disappointing start to the season, narrowly losing out 3-2 in a midweek fixture last Wednesday against Thornton CCFC, the lads are back in action for their first home game of the season. I know we are all ready to go for this one and can't wait to throw the kits on at Peel Park once again (courtesy of MnD Floors Ltd).

We will be heading back to our new home for the season, The Malt Kiln - Bradford , for some food and drinks - all in time for the England game at 5PM. Cheap drinks, food and football - what's not to love?

If everyone can come and support the lads, that would be appreciated.

Clayton Celtic 1 - 9 Icon Athletic💪

A great performance from the lads today saw them enjoy a comfortable win after a strongly contested start to the game!

Most of the lads had a run out against Denholme United in our first friendly fixture on Thursday night which was a very well battled game, but today the Icon's welcomed new signing Izaac Hurtault for his first game as well as Thomas Metcalfe, Kyle Smith, Kain Erangey and Tom 'Tipsy' Lawler-Davis making their first appearances of the season.

A first half hat trick from Ryan Whitfield and a nicely put away penalty from Rico Horvath saw us go in 4-1 up at halftime. In the second half, the foot never came off of the pedal and goals from Kain Erangey, Sam Thomas, Rohan Thomas and Connor Banham (penalty) as well as a second goal for Rico Hovarth saw the icons go home 9-1 winners today (Ryan x3, Rico x2, Sam, Rohan, Connor, Kain) 🏆

Matthew Thomas coming in to help out Nick Whitfield and Callum Grant on the sideline, as well as a handful of new singings, seems to be pushing the lads into the right direction and we have every faith our management team will get the most out of a really talented squad this season 👏

We're looking forwards to the season ahead, with our first league fixture being a midweek evening game away against Thornton CCFC on Wednesday 30th August. This will be followed by our first home fixture of the season against a new team to the league, Jacks House, where we will be welcoming everyone back for some food and drinks to our new home for the season The Malt Kiln - Bradford

Denholme United 6 - 5 Icon Athletic

11 goal thriller for our first game back!

The icons started the game with quite a familiar lineup but also welcoming a couple of new signings, Lewis Lunn and Rico Horvath, into the team. A strong first half saw the icons go into the break 4-1 up after a goal each for Dalton Bottomley and new singing Rico Horvath as well as a first half brace for Ryan Whitfield.

A few changes at half time and a slow start saw Denholme pull the game back and get the scoreline to 5-4 in their favour. That's before Rico added his second goal of the night to make it 5-5. The icons conceded again late on to make the score 6-5 and unfortunately failed to convert a last minute penalty to pull the game level.

A great display for our first game back and now the lads are preparing to get straight back into action on Sunday against Clayton Celtic.

The lads will be back in action tomorrow evening in a friendly fixture against Denholme United and after a few months without a game I know they are ready to get back to it. Hopefully we will have a few new signings making an appearance 👀

Kick off is at 6:30PM Foster Park, Denholme 🕑

This is followed by our 2nd friendly game against the newly founded Clayton Celtic on Sunday 11AM kick off, Trinity Academy, Halifax (grass pitch)
