And that’s a wrap on the race season.

For one night only, the Sharks wore clothes that weren’t paddling gear.
There was dancing.
There were awards.
There were speeches.
Some of the paddlers who’ve raced with us throughout the season joined us for the celebrations.

And a frankly unreasonable amount of spicy beverages were consumed.
A brilliant night celebrating a brilliant bunch of people.
Although, having seen the evidence…

Maybe it’s not the paddling we should fear.
Fear the dance floor, instead?

Nothing to see here.
Just two completely innocent paddlers, casually taking an entire dragon boat through a swing bridge…
…while the rest of the boat sits back and sings Happy Birthday. 🎂 😂

Because at the Sharks, birthdays come with a little tradition. On your birthday, you and your bench partner paddle the boat by yourselves.
Your age = the number of strokes. 😈

And because we apparently don’t believe in making things easy:
- Sitting next to a coach? Doubled.
- You’re a coach? Doubled.
- Sitting next to the Head Coach? Tripled.

42 Sharks.
One Nationals.
And a lot of racing.
What a way to finish the season.

We took 42 paddlers and helms to Nationals and somehow managed to get every single one of them on the water, paddling in every race and giving it everything right to the last finish line.

And then there were the trophies…
🏆 Mixed League Champions
🏆 Women’s League Champions
🥇 Women’s 500m Champions

That Women’s 500m crew absolutely sent it, taking 1st place and putting down one hell of a race.

But these photos are probably our favourite bit.
42 people who have trained together, raced together, shouted at each other, laughed together, travelled together and spent a frankly ridiculous amount of time in and around dragon boats this year.
Some holding trophies.
Some holding each other up.
All Sharks.

The season might be over…
But what a season it’s been.
League titles secured. Trophies collected. Memories made.

And we’re already wondering what we can do next.
