The things we do as horse owners for our SI babies!
Ingredients for our own fly spray!! ๐ Which many of you have seen, recommended and posted to other groups and people, to which I thank you! :D
Recipe is further down the page, but the new addition to it is the Apple Cider Vinegar! 50ml of this is now added to his fly spray as well as 2 capfuls of this added to his AM feed.

How are everyone's horses into June?
Tom is looking super (although he's holding weight around his belly!) And has finally got rid of his winter coat! Hurray!!
Tom has had a couple of itchy episodes with his tail that we have dealt with swiftly so damage is very minimal and the odd mark underneath on his sheath area which we've covered with mud fever cream. As always, his fly spray has been an absolute amazing asset to us as it doubles as a first aid spray so we're doing well considering!
I have shared my tips and tricks across my blog in previous posts, but if there is anything you'd like me to re share or discuss further please comment below! ๐๐

Here is why Sophie feeds TurmerItch to her 13.2 Welsh Section C Tom all year round:
"Tom has made a vast improvement over the years since being on TurmerItch.
His mane has grown (which now reaches his knees - we keep it in a running plait to keep it all neat, tidy and redo this once a week) and his tail is fluffy, thick, and long.
I feed 1 small scoop of TurmerItch and brewers yeast (roughly 20ml), once a day in a morning feed. It gives it a chance to get into his system and start working its magic to protect him into March and summer. This makes the product last longer and more cost effective for us. We rug and start prevention methods at this time to keep on top of the condition and ahead of the season that we know can be challenging.
On days where itching has occurred, I up the TurmerItch to 2 scoops in a morning feed for a couple of days, as well as upping the use of the aloe gel and tea tree baths alongside.
We were on the trials for this product and have been absolutely thrilled with his transformation so I will be continuing to feed TurmerItch for the foreseeable. I cannot recommend this product more highly! It is the only product around that is for sweet itch and is specific for that.
Thank you, Sophie and Tom"

Hi everyone!
How are the horses into November?
My Thomas still has all his protected clothing on and still on his supplements! (Named in previous post if anyone wishes to have a look at what we use!)
I won't take him off them until its dropped dramatically in temperature and has a real winter feel.
Despite having 3 or 4 episodes this year of itching, he still looks amazing and has competed his heart out for Dressage this year! Qualified for the Dressage Champions Finals again which was our 4th time! We came 4th and just missed out on Reserve Champ, however, he still came home with consistently high scores and has done well with being at the top top end of the 60's - he's placed 2nd and 3rd all year with a cheeky sneaky 1st place thrown in for good measure!๐๐ช (67-69.7%... ๐คฉ)
Photo of Thomas and his gorgeous mane (it does touch his knees!!๐คฉ Its so long!)

So I've been asked a few times which brands of supplements I use, so here we are:
๐ดBrewers yeast by Equimins
๐ดTurmeritch from Golden Paste.
I feed one scoop of each per day, but on days where I've seen signs of itching, I up the TurmerItch and feed 2 scoops.
My boy only gets a morning feed.
Feeding this way makes the supplements last longer too which is a bonus!
What works for your horses? :)

My little Champ this morning being such a super star!
Nearly end of sweet itch season, but still plenty to be done!
Only 2 and a half months left before I can change Tom into his winter rug and start stocking up for next years summer! ๐
๐Have we any success stories this year?
๐Have you tried something new and it's worked?

Hi all,
How are all your SI babies getting along?
Tom is doing okay, now the hot days have gone anyway.
Couple of bog brush tails this year but we've sorting that out and he's seeming happier!
Hes itched inside of his ear but that's healing nicely and we're keeping the mane itching to a minimum! ๐๐
We are now awaiting results from the 2nd Qualifiers for Dressage Championships, then its one more to go and hopefully into the finals! ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐๐

Switched Thomas back into his Highlander now that it's cooled off a tad...
Will follow this up with another full bath tomorrow and include his mane and tail.
Some marks have appeared on his hips, but they are very small... I have aloe gelled these areas too including the handful of raised bite marks I've spotted - I have used his fly spray as a first aid spray as it contains TCP and Antiseptic Dettol! :)
When you have a great management system and know your horse inside and out, small things are picked up much faster! :-)
In times like this with the heat, please do remove your horses rugs and give them a check over... I know my boy likes to use to me as a personal back scratcher so his hairbrush comes in handy... plus the look ๐ he gives, telling me where to scratch ๐คฃ๐
Keep going people's, it'll be over soon! X

Another very hot day!!! ๐ฅต๐ฅ
How are everyone's horses?
Thomas has had another day inside and has itched his tail again, but, its a lot less than it has been!
Given him and me(!!)a tea tree bath today! ๐
(Makes shopping easier as we both use same product - Original Source Mint and Tea Tree shower gel! - It's a god send for sure!!!)
Hes been soaked twice as well... just to make sure he's cool enough for tonight!
Praying those thunderstorms and rain/wind arrive tonight as last night was stifling to try sleep!
Hope the horses sleep better tonight! ๐๐ค

Hi everyone! How hot is it today! ๐ฅต๐ฅต
How are your horses coping with the heat?
I've taken the decision to keep Thomas in today AND tomorrow to keep him in the shade of his stable.... as has all the rest of the horse owners on the yard I'm on.
GOOD CALL I SAY!! ๐ฅต๐
This afternoon, Thomas has had a complete soak and cool down... not always a fan of the shower head but he appreciates it all the same... :) Seems this heat is making his tail itch again, so tea tree bath it is, with aloe gel and coconut oil applied.... fingers crossed this stops it! ๐ค๐ค
I'll be glad when he can go back out on Weds, but with that brings thunderstorms and will be a midge and fly heaven so please keep rugs on and don't risk taking them off unless it's to adjust them/ bath/groom... this is so important and crucial! โบ๏ธโบ๏ธ
