Today we played Honley in a game we won 3-2 with Kayden getting 2 goals & Daniel1
Definitely a different game today than last weeks fixture & we had to win it in slightly a different way too. We started the game brightly, then a bit of sloppy play allowed Honley to break & score against the run of play…that’s 2 week in a row we gifted them the first goal of the game which we need to improve on.
Again though, same as last week our reaction was very good & we got back level soon after & then after some brilliant play & that quality in the final 3rd we have been asking for we got another to come in 2-1 up at halftime.
2nd half was more of the same, very well contested with chances for both sides but I think we were definitely creating the more clear cut chances & were just unable to capatilize. Honley got back level again from a goal against run of play but they were trying to be direct & leave a few on our last line and on this occasion they were able to finish a half chance.
Again though our heads didn't drop & we kept pushing & got a deserved winner, great strike from Elliott which hit the bar & Kayden reacted to finish with his head.
Really proud of the lads today, we spoke of how the pitch was going to create challenges & we rose to that challenge. Not as pretty as last week but a good team can do both sides of the game & we did that today, whilst also playing some great football.
Match points: Elliott2(m.o.m) Elliott was superb today both in & out of possession, broke up the opposition play on numerous occasions & also in possession real quality today with I believe him involved in all 3 goals. Kayden & Xavier1. Kayden 2 good goals, ran channels well & held up play to bring other players into the game. Xavier really good performance today & we can see what he can bring to our team, obviously dominant in the air but good on first contact & carried ball really well at times too.
