I did 8 months of working around a hernia, compensating, masking the pain. Watching others enjoy there training and I didn’t complain. Yes it affects ya mentally, but some movement is better than no movement.

Here’s a dip variation for your chest
Leaning forward and tucking the legs shifts the load directly onto the pecs. If you aren’t feeling the stretch in the right places, it might be time to tweak your form.
Once you can do these then add a weight belt
