🏆💜 WHAT AN AMAZING DAY! 💜🏆

Today saw Drighlington Cricket Team take on the Drighlington Devils in our charity Rounders vs Cricket Match, all in support of Epilepsy UK! 💜

It was competitive, it was hilarious, and most importantly, it was all for an incredible cause! 😂🏏🔥

After a brilliant game, the final score was:

🏆🏏Drighlington Cricket Team – 20.5
😈 Drighlington Devils – 18

👏 Congratulations to the cricket team on taking the win! We’ll give you this one… until the rematch! 😉😈

But the biggest win of the day was the phenomenal amount raised…

A HUGE thank you to absolutely everyone who came along, played, donated, bought raffle tickets, took part in our costume auction and supported us and helped make today such a fantastic success.

Days like today show exactly what our club and community are all about — coming together, having fun and supporting causes that mean so much to us.

It’s time to bring our families and community together for an afternoon of good old-fashioned Sports Day fun! 💚💛

We’ll have sack races, egg & spoon races, relay races and plenty more, followed by a BBQ! 🌭🍔

⚠️ SIGN UP IS ESSENTIAL! ⚠️
To help us organise the races properly and make sure the day runs smoothly, everyone taking part needs to be signed up in advance.
📝 The sign-up form is up in the club now — simply pop in and add your family’s names, or drop us a message and we can add you to the list.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 AND ADULTS — YOU’RE NOT GETTING OUT OF IT! 😂
Adult participation is required! This is a FAMILY Sports Day, which means we want mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles and the kids all getting involved throughout the day! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
This isn’t just about winning races (although we know some of you will get VERY competitive! 👀🏆) — it’s about getting everyone together, having a laugh and creating a brilliant day for our local community.

2nd XI
No game this week as Leeds Gladiators were unable to field a team.
We’re awarded the 20 points and that keeps us 2nd in the league, now 18 points clear of 3rd.
Promotion push still on!

1st XI - WON by 66 runs vs One Stop
Played in the scorching sun ☀️
We won the toss and batted first, posting a terrific 276 all out.

With the ball it got spicy early. One Stop opener Abbasi hit 119 off 97 and took it to our openers.

Mixed fortunes for Drighlington CC this weekend. In a 45-over contest, the 1st XI fell just short, losing by 16 runs after Halifax Direct posted 324/6 from their 45 overs. Despite a strong effort, with S. Qayyum scoring 64 and A. Safian adding 28, Drighlington finished on 308/9. A. Safian also impressed with the ball, claiming 3-48.

The 2nd XI enjoyed a successful afternoon in a 40-over match, posting 247/8 thanks to a superb 107 from A. Dunne and a rapid 73 from T. Khan, before bowling Cookridge out for 232 in 38.2 overs to secure victory by 15 runs, with an outstanding five wickets taken by M. Douglass.
