🏏💛💚Matchday 💚💛🏏

Only the 1st XI in action today – the 2nds have their first of two bye weekends.

We’re at home vs Leeds Gladiators, looking to bounce back after last weekend’s double disappointment. A loss to 2nd-placed Interlink on Saturday, then our cup run ended at the first hurdle vs Yorkshire LPS on Sunday.

Team News: Just one change – Mitchell comes back into the side, replacing Fez Hussain.
Despite the league defeat, we held onto 4th place. Today we take on Leeds Gladiators, currently 7th.

With the weather looking iffy, we’re still hoping for a 1:00pm start. If the cricket gets washed out, come down anyway and sample the new signings behind the bar.

This evening, Don’t forget it’s Karaoke from 8:00pm 🎤

Don’t stop believin’ – grab the mic, hold on to that feeling!
Whether you’re Livin’ on a Prayer or just here for a Sweet Caroline singalong, the bar’s open and the stage is yours. Come belt it out at the club!

Thanks to our sponsors Prashads & King Street Motors for their continued support this season.

See you at the club!

Cawthorne Cup Round One: Drighlington 2nd XI vs Gildersome & Farnley Hill

Sunday saw our Drighlington 2nd XI take on Gildersome & Farnley Hill in the opening round of the Cawthorne Cup. Having faced Gildersome three times, without a win, Drighlington arrived as clear underdogs — but determined to make a statement.

Winning the toss on a hot Bank Holiday Sunday, Captain Dunne chose to bat first. The plan was simple: bat the full 40 overs, tire out the opposition, and give the bowlers something to work with later.
The opening ten overs were a struggle, with runs hard to come by and two early wickets falling. But Dilawar injected life into the innings with a fluent 50 from just 40 balls, taking the attack to Gildersome’s bowlers.
At the other end, Captain Dunne dug in for a gritty 27 off 77, anchoring the innings while others played around him. Despite the effort, Drighlington were bowled out for 166 in the final over.

The reply began perfectly for Drighlington as Gildersome captain Morley fell for 0, offering a glimmer of hope.
But Gildersome are a tough side to pin down. With the sun on their backs and wickets in hand, they counter‑attacked confidently. Despite Drighlington’s best efforts with the ball, Gildersome reached 170 for 5 in just over 30 overs, sealing the win.

The cup run ends here for our second team — but the season’s ambitions certainly don’t. All focus now turns to the league campaign, with the goal of back‑to‑back promotions and a return to the B Division firmly in sight.
