What a performance from the lads today! From the starting XI to all five substitutes, every single player played their part and gave everything for the badge from the first whistle to the last.
We were fast, attacking, composed on the ball and solid defensively, playing some fantastic football throughout the 90 minutes. Prospect simply couldn’t cope with the intensity, movement and quality we showed today.
Rose started brightly and deservedly took the lead after some excellent build-up play. Cam picked the ball up out wide and delivered a dangerous cross into the box. The Prospect keeper came to collect but spilled the ball into Louy’s path, who managed to get a touch into the path of Regan, who made no mistake and smashed home to make it 1–0 Rose.

Prospect responded quickly, capitalising on a mix-up between our defence and goalkeeper to level the game at 1–1.

Rose regained the advantage from a long throw with Jack getting his head to the ball and directing it into the path of Cam who calmly finished to put us back in front at 2–1.

Once again, Prospect found a quick equaliser with a long ball over the top finding their striker who managed to poke the ball past the onrushing Rose goalkeeper to make it 2–2.

But the lads refused to be knocked off their stride.
Some brilliant football through the middle saw Tom pick the ball up on the left before producing a superb cross-field pass to Cam on the right. Cam delivered yet another quality cross into the box finding Louy who brought it down brilliantly before squeezing his finish inside the near post.
3–2 Rose at half-time!

The second half was another level.
The lads came out with the same intensity but this time our defensive shape was outstanding. The defence and goalkeeper were completely in sync, shutting Prospect down and giving them very little to work with.
Lionel, who was phenomenal once again made a brilliant run in behind and raced onto a through ball. He beat the goalkeeper to it only to be wiped out inside the box, Penalty to Rose.

Up stepped Tom, who kept his composure and smashed the penalty into the goalkeeper’s left-hand corner giving him no chance. 4–2 Rose!

The final goal came after Rose had made our 5 substitutions with one of the new arrivals, Dom, immediately making an impact.
Dom chased the ball down just inside the Prospect half as a defender attempted to clear. The clearance struck Dom and bounced perfectly over the defensive line and goalkeeper. Dom continued his run kept his composure and calmly placed his finish into an empty net from around 20 yards.
5–2 Rose! 💛💙

From there, the lads saw the game out professionally and secured another three valuable league points.
We genuinely couldn’t have asked for much more today. The quality of football, the movement, the work rate, the togetherness and the finishing were all first class.
Every player played for each other. Every player backed each other. Every player fought for the badge.
This is exactly the standard we need to keep setting. 💪

The lads are back in league action this Sunday for our 3rd league game in the first week of the 26/27 season and the boys are hungry to get another 3 points on the board! 💪

We’ve made a solid start to the season and now it’s all about building on that, keeping the momentum going and continuing to push in the right direction.

After feeling like we should have taken all three points from our last game but having to settle for just one, the lads are determined to put that right this weekend.

Can we go and get all 3 points on Sunday?
One thing is for sure — the boys will be ready to give everything from the first whistle to the last.

⚽️ LEAGUE GAME — FULL-TIME RESULT ⚽️
Manningham Town 2–2 Rose Athletic F.C.

Rose Athletic were forced to settle for a point away from home against Manningham Town after a game of two very different halves.
From the first whistle, Rose took complete control of proceedings and made the perfect start. Just minutes into the game, Regan delivered a dangerous corner into the box, with Adam rising highest to power his header into the back of the net and give Rose an early 0–1 lead.
The opening 15 minutes was all Rose. We created chance after chance, played some excellent football and looked capable of extending our advantage. Unfortunately, we lost our composure and the momentum of the game completely shifted. The passing, movement and intensity that had been so impressive early on disappeared, allowing Manningham back into the game.
To make matters worse, Rose were forced into a change between the sticks following a bad hand injury to our goalkeeper. Manningham took advantage of the disruption, scoring twice to turn the game around and send Rose into the break 2–1 down.
A strong team talk at half-time sparked a reaction.
The second half saw a completely different Rose Athletic side. We got back to playing our football, battled for every ball and, most importantly, started fighting for each other once again.
The equaliser came quickly. Jack used his pace and energy down the wing before delivering an excellent cross into the box, where Nicky met it perfectly on the half-volley and smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 2–2.
From there, Rose pushed hard for the winner. We created several opportunities to take all three points, but unfortunately couldn't find that all-important goal and the game finished 2–2.
A point away from home, but definitely two points dropped considering the chances we created and the performance in the second half.
Credit to the lads for the fight, character and spirit shown after the break. However, that spell of around 30 minutes in the first half is ultimately what cost us the win.
We regroup, learn from it and go again. 🔥

Rose Athletic F.C 5–0 Shelf Juniors

What a performance from the lads today! A brilliant display from start to finish as Rose controlled proceedings throughout the full 90 minutes and got the league campaign off to the perfect start.
From the first whistle Rose were on the front foot, creating chance after chance and playing some outstanding football. Despite creating 7–8 clear-cut opportunities in the opening half we just couldn't find the breakthrough.
The deadlock was eventually broken after around 35 minutes. A free-kick out by the touchline was whipped into the box with perfect precision by Matty Fullalove finding Billy Swiatek at the back post who made no mistake with a bullet header to put Rose 1–0 up.
We could, and probably should have been 4 or 5 goals ahead at half-time but we had to settle for a 1–0 lead at the break.
The second half followed much of the same pattern but this time we were more clinical in front of goal.
Our second came following some excellent build-up play with Nicky threading a ball through towards goal for Louy Kenny who showed incredible determination to get there first and stretch out a toe to guide the ball past the onrushing Shelf goalkeeper. 2–0 Rose.
The third was almost identical, with Nicky once again finding Louy, who made no mistake, this time calmly slotting the ball home for his second of the afternoon. 3–0 Rose.
With the game firmly under control Rose made a number of substitutions to give more of the squad valuable minutes. One of those was Hamza, who worked tirelessly and ran his socks off as always. His efforts were rewarded when a failed clearance from the Shelf defence fell to another player who was subbed on Dominic Whitehead who played the ball to Hamza, Whether it was intended as a cross or a shot, we'll let Hamza decide! Either way, the effort completely deceived the goalkeeper and somehow crept into the net. 4–0 Rose.
The fifth and final goal was arguably one of the best team goals of the afternoon. Some fantastic passing football cut the Shelf defence apart before Paul Hague who was excellent all afternoon with his hold-up play and battling, produced a superb ball at a tight angle through the defence and into the path of Louy Kenny.
Louy took a lovely touch before smashing his effort past the goalkeeper to complete a well-deserved hat-trick. 5–0 Rose.
A fantastic start to the league season. We scored some excellent team goals, played some brilliant football and most importantly, our defence was outstanding throughout the full 90 minutes, restricting Shelf Juniors to not a single shot on target.
A thoroughly deserved clean sheet and three points.

Rose Athletic F.C 2–3 F.C Queensbury

Rose Athletic suffered a frustrating 3–2 defeat to F.C Queensbury in today’s friendly, with the result failing to reflect a first half in which Rose were firmly in control and created enough chances to put the game beyond doubt.
Rose started brightly, dominating possession and controlling proceedings across the pitch. Several excellent opportunities were created, but we were unable to find the breakthrough. Against the run of play, Queensbury took the lead with what could have been their first opportunity after 30 minutes when an effort from around 25 yards somehow found its way into the net after the Rose goalkeeper appeared to have it comfortably covered, only to spill the ball over the line. 🙈
Rose responded well and deservedly found the equaliser. Regan delivered a superb cross into the box, picking out Arrison, who rose to meet it with a brilliant header and placed the ball beyond the Queensbury goalkeeper to make it 1–1.

Half-time: Rose Athletic F.C 1–1 F.C Queensbury

Unfortunately, the second half saw Rose lose the control and intensity we had shown before the break, with the game becoming scrappy and neither side creating much in the opening stages.
Queensbury then regained the lead after another costly defensive mistake, as a misplaced ball across our own box fell straight to a Queensbury player, who was left with a simple finish.
The visitors then extended their advantage to 1–3 after another error on the edge of the Rose box. Taking too long to clear allowed a Queensbury attacker to block the attempted clearance, sending the ball into the net.
That goal finally sparked Rose back into life, and we began to play the football we know we're capable of, creating chances and putting Queensbury under pressure.
Shak came agonisingly close to pulling one back with a spectacular half-volley from around 35–40 yards, which looked destined for the top corner but missed by millimetres.
Rose continued to push and eventually got their reward. Shak was played clean through on the left and, with the Queensbury goalkeeper rushing out to close him down, he cleverly poked the ball past him. Tom reacted quickest, sliding in to finish from close range and bring Rose back to 2–3.
Despite pushing for an equaliser late on and a clear penalty not given Rose couldn't find the final goal.
A hugely frustrating result given the chances we created, particularly in the first half. We should have gone into the break comfortably ahead, with enough opportunities to have been 4 or 5–1 up and potentially out of sight.
Ultimately, three defensive mistakes gifted Queensbury their goals, while our failure to take the numerous chances we created proved costly.
Plenty to take away, plenty to work on, and most importantly, plenty of time to put things right.
Next Sunday is where it matters — our first League game of the season. Time to put the mistakes right and start the campaign strongly. 💛🖤⚽
