It is with great sadness to report that Bob Leadbeater passed away earlier this week. Bankfoot through and through Bob was groundsman, steward and committee member for many years and a lovely man. His funeral will be held on Wednesday 22nd September at Dewsbury crematorium at 10.30am. All welcome to attend with the wake back at Bankfoot cricket club after. RIP Bob, you will be missed by everyone who knew you.

On Saturday the 2nd Xl got their season finally underway with a trip to Morley. On what can only be described as a challenging wicket they came up just short. Batting first and setting 126, thanks to Hamza Khan hitting 40, Amir Afsar going well until being given out very unluckily. It looked a total that was going to be hard to defend, but almost was thanks to all 4 of the bowlers, Atta Rehman, Asad Nasir, Haroon Iqbal and Hamza Khan, bowling superbly. Morley knocking them off 6 down with just over an over to spare.

Captains MOM. - Could quite easily have been Hamza Khan with a great all round batting and bowling display but Atta Rehman just edges it, bowled beautifully took 2 wickets and on another day could have been 5/6 only going at 2 runs per over.

Great effort by Greg Nicola Colehan to get everything spot on and ready for the return of cricket to Bankfoot CC on Saturday as our 2nd team take on East Bierley.

Great to get back on the field today even if it’s not quite the same just yet. Loads of hard work put in behind the scenes and off the field just to get to this point but worth it. UTF

Bankfoot CC have teamed up with Rehmani sports for a Christmas raffle. £5 a team and winner will receive duffle bag, batting pads, batting gloves and thigh pad. Will he scratched off once full and winner will be announced. To enter DM Michael Naylor with team and how to pay. Good luck. 🏏

Bonfire tonight at Bankfoot. Bar open and food available. Everybody welcome. Fire lit at 6pm.

Second team, Bankfoot batted first and made 152 which looked 30 short with Amir making a decent 44 and Samad hitting a brisk 34. A Remarkable second spell over saw take 4 wickets in the over including Hat Trick to finish with 6 -15 and 3-34 saw the hosts to 130AO. UTF

Second team also fielding first kept Farsley to 154, Haroon Iqbal 4-36 and Nigel Hanson 3-35 pick of the bowlers. Zahir Shah got them off to a good start with 37 and after a middle order wobble knocked them off with Abdus Samad 34NO. Win keeps them right in contention in 5th.

Two good wins yesterday. First team moving up to second with victory at East Bierley. Losing the toss and bowling first they managed to restrict Bierley to 208, thanks to skipper James Lee, 4/39 & Andrew Stothart, 3/50. In reply Bankfoot knocked them off with 8 overs left thanks to Hisan Ahmed 63NO and James Lee 71.
