Congratulations and well done to Notleys Juniors Thomas, Alex and Ryan who won the Essex Schools net competition on 14th April. They go forward to the National Competition in July. Well played lads!!!

Let’s Talk Pitchmarks…

As we approach the weekend here’s a thought that will benefit all golfers across Essex.

Each golfer creates an average of 8 pitchmarks on the greens during a round of golf. 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️⛳️

An average course will suffer 1,040 pitchmarks a day. 🙁

To add further scale, collectively, Essex golf courses incur an average of 73,840 pitchmarks a day, which amount to 26.9 million a year. 😲

A well repaired pitchmark will heal within 24 hours but an un-repaired or poorly repaired pitchmark will take 2 months to recover.

With our courses recovering from a wet start to the year, take a look at the images and when out on the course this weekend, correct your pitchmark repair technique and why not put it in to practice and repair one or two beyond yours per green.

If we all did our bit, there’s no doubt that our greenkeepers will be grateful and our greens will be better for it too.
