We thought we would share this awesome taken at Little Gatcombe of our clients Grace and Vinnie having a fantastic round.
It is lovely for us to be able to share the story behind the horse for our clients to see. We have loved watching their progress as they’ve been using the as part of Vinnie’s fitness programme throughout the event season.

The results speak for themselves despite Grace having an injury earlier this year, it has not stopped them and as a result they have

We’re proud to be qualified and trained through FMBS under Dr Matthias with the guidance of Tonya Willingham, giving us the knowledge and confidence to use our water treadmill safely and effectively.

Every horse is different, which is why we take an individual approach to each session , whether they’re coming for rehabilitation, fitness, conditioning or general wellbeing.

We’re always happy to work alongside your vet and other professionals involved in your horse’s care to ensure their treadmill programme is appropriate for them.

Every horse that steps onto our water treadmill gets their own dedicated record sheet.
We carefully note:
- Water height
- Time spent working
- Speed
- Detailed notes on how they felt, responded, and progressed.
These records help us track every horse’s individual journey, tailor each session, and ensure consistent, safe progress.
In addition we are now able to record the horses weight, as we now have our new FMBS Combi Floor Weigh Scales.

This week, we introduced Gibraltar, one of our liveries here at Wood Farm, to the treadmill as he begins his rehabilitation journey with us following a DDFT injury, bone bruising and associated coffin joint changes.
After a period of box rest, restricted turnout, remedial shoeing and a month of in-hand walk work, Gibraltar has recently been given the go-ahead to begin a carefully controlled rehabilitation programme.
The water treadmill will be introduced gradually as part of his rehab plan, starting with:
💧 15 minutes once a week
💧 Low water level
💧 Low resistance
💧 Carefully monitored throughout each session
The aim is to introduce the treadmill as a controlled, low-impact form of exercise, gradually building Gibraltar’s strength and fitness while supporting his overall rehabilitation.
Over the first four weeks, we’ll monitor his response closely. If he remains comfortable and continues to progress well, we can then gradually increase the duration and resistance alongside the rest of his rehabilitation programme.
Every horse’s rehabilitation journey is different, sessions are tailored to individual needs based on their veterinary rehabilitation plan.
