What a brilliant day at the Monsal Hill Climb.

We were really pleased to support this year’s event, with Trek Bicycle Bramhall sponsoring the Junior and Youth prizes.

It was fantastic to see so many younger riders taking on such an iconic climb, and doing it in front of a packed roadside crowd. Supporting the next generation of riders is something we’re especially proud to be involved with, and the number of Junior and Youth competitors this year was great to see.

As always, Monsal delivered an incredible atmosphere — huge crowds, plenty of noise and encouragement, and riders of all ages giving absolutely everything on the climb.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the event, all the volunteers who helped make it happen, and of course everyone who raced or came along to support.

We’re already looking forward to next year.

We now have the new Trek Inbound+ in store at Trek Bicycle Bramhall.

The Inbound+ is an electric hybrid/trekking bike, designed around everyday riding rather than outright speed. With a comfortable upright riding position, electric assistance, mudguards, integrated lights and a rear rack, it’s set up to be practical straight out of the box.

It’s a great option if you’re looking for a bike for commuting, riding into town, replacing shorter car journeys or simply getting out and riding further without every hill becoming a workout.

It also makes sense for riders who want the versatility of a traditional hybrid bike but would appreciate a little extra assistance when the road heads upwards — particularly useful around our part of the world!

This weekend sees the return of the Monsal Hill Climb — one of the biggest and most iconic events on the UK hill climb calendar.

We’re really pleased to be supporting the event again this year and, in particular, sponsoring the Junior and Youth prizes.

For those categories, we’re providing vouchers to spend online at trekstores.co.uk:

3rd place — £10

It’s great to be able to support the younger riders taking on Monsal and hopefully help encourage the next generation of racers.

And if you’re not racing, Monsal is well worth coming along to watch. The crowds line the climb, there’s live commentary throughout the event, and with riders giving absolutely everything all the way to the finish, it makes for a brilliant atmosphere and a great day out for spectators too.

Saturday 24th October.
09:30 leaving the shop.
50KM (31 miles)
Social pace therefore all accomidated.
Please have nutrition and spares for yourself to keep you going for 3-3 1/2 hours.

Some tarmac but this is for gravel bikes, as when we leave the paved areas it will be chunky.

A marked change in the temperatures in the mornings this week.
following on from our post about darker rides and lights it could be worth considering those commuter options too?

Following on from our winter lights post, having the right clothing makes just as much difference once the darker, wetter months arrive.

Modelled here by our good sport Nat, our new Commuter Hump jacket and trousers are now in stock. The jacket is waterproof and reflective, while the trousers are waterproof with reflective decals.

Simple, practical kit that can make winter commuting a lot more manageable and enjoyable.

These photos were taken on Laurie’s morning commute into work and are a good reminder that darker mornings are starting to creep back in.

Good lights aren’t just about being seen. On roads with no street lighting, you also need enough light to see the road surface, potholes, debris and bends ahead.

Summer makes it easy to forget, but with the days getting shorter, now’s a good time to make sure your lights are up to the job.

Last weekend marked the start of Store Manager Laurie’s hill climb season, and what better way to test the versatility of the Trek Madone than by racing it uphill?

First was Goyt Lane, a 1.2-mile climb averaging just under 8%, followed a day later by Holly Lane a much shorter but considerably steeper test, averaging 11.7% over the race course.

The Madone is obviously a bike designed with speed in mind, but one of the things Laurie has found from riding it is just how well it adapts when the terrain changes. From commuting and longer training rides to short, steep hill climbs, it’s proved to be far more versatile than its aero looks might suggest.

For hill climb season, a few small changes have helped make it more suitable for the job lighter wheels, a 1x set-up and gearing changes depending on the course but fundamentally, it’s still the same bike he rides week in, week out.

After a promising start to the season, it was a good reminder that the Madone is a lot more versatile than you might first think.

🚴‍♀️ Bramhall Wellness Day – Saturday 12 September 🌿

To celebrate Bramhall Wellness Day, we’re heading out on a slightly faster-paced ride!

The route is around 45km with 839m of elevation, making this an intermediate-level ride, with an average pace of approximately 15–16mph.

We’ll make our way to Eccles Pike for the halfway point before continuing on to District Cafe in Whaley Bridge, where we’ll stop for a well-earned coffee and cake ☕🍰

It would be lovely to have you join us! Please make sure you’re comfortable with the distance, climbs and pace, and come ready for a great ride and some good company. 😊
