Putting maintenance station -
Although the majority of your practice should be spent doing performance drills, where you’re changing the task and going through your routine, a good technical putting station is great to reset your form and keep your technique moving in the right direction.
Here are the elements I use in my putting maintenance station.
Very lucky to be able to play , incredible golf course and scenery!
Happy golfing.

Training Tuesday - Tee shots and Up and Downs
It would be a shame to waste the great weather and not get out on the course today.
This is how I would go out and play on the course, to still have a consequence for ever shot but get a few more reps in on each hole.
The tee shots part simulates a scenario which is often the case, where one side of the hole is better than the other and you must favour this side while still trying to hit the fairway. Changing the task can give you a good understanding of what you must feel to take a certain side of the course out of play.
The up and downs is something I would do almost every time I play on my own. I have often had better stats around the greens when doing this more than any technique practice on my short game. It not only varies the shot you hit but also gets you in the mindset that you can get up and down from anywhere. Doing this in the winter gives you the added bonus of practicing off of some really dodgy lies!
Give this a go if you’re going out for 9 holes and see how you do!

Training Tuesday - Knockdown Shots
Knockdown or flighted shots are useful when trying to take spin off the ball or when playing into the wind.
Usually I would do this by either lowering the flight or hitting a longer club softer. Both of these options are to lower the initial launch and spin; which I have included in this session, which would be handy if you knew you were going to play in some windy conditions in the near future.
Practicing with a plan makes your time more productive, competitive and enjoyable IMO. It’s a triple whammy.
Give this one a go!

Training Tuesday - Clubface Control
I’m sure someone once said, “The one who masters the clubface is the one who should be feared”. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure.
In the last few years we have seen Scottie Scheffler dominate the game of golf. Part of his success is down to his supreme control of the club face. The club face angle at impact is the biggest influencer of where the ball starts and the relationship between this and the club path is what creates the spin axis and curves the golf ball.
Scheffler seemingly starts and ends the ball closer to his intention than anyone in the world; and does it from some unorthodox positions technically. This suggests the importance of training clubface control as a skill alongside trying to improve movements and technique.
I have included a session to train clubface control. I designed this session to provide an opportunity to train clubface control both in relation to the target and to the club path; whilst creeping my technique in the right direction. It will also inform me of any shots I struggle with or tendencies I should address.
Give it a go and let me know how you get on! Happy golfing!
