This weekend saw the JKS Wales Annual Dan Grading, and we would like to congratulate all those who were successful in achieving the next step on their karate journey:

For those who didn't quite make it this time, keep your heads up. Take on board the feedback you have been given, continue to train hard, and come back stronger. A black belt is not simply awarded; it must be earned through commitment, determination and continuous improvement.

Success is not measured by how many times you pass, but by how many times you get back up and keep going.

Important Announcement from Derek Stockham Sensei:

After much consideration, I have decided to step down as Branch Leader of JKS Wales, effective January 31, 2026. It has been an immense privilege to lead JKS Wales since its founding in 2014, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust and support from everyone involved.

I’ve discussed this decision with Yamaguchi Sensei, and I’m thankful for his support. While I’m stepping down, I remain committed to the values of JKS and will continue to contribute in other ways.

I want to thank all members and instructors for their dedication, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together. The foundation is strong, and I’m confident JKS Wales will continue to grow and thrive.

Well done to Laura, Olly & Nicola from the Llangynidr dojo who successfully passed their grading examinations this morning in Brecon.
Laura and Olly graded to 7th Kyu or Yellow belt and Nicola graded to 6th Kyu or Green belt. The journey continues.
