It’s a different post to most but a very raw one, one that shows heartache, resilience, fight, overcoming fear and courage to get my babies!
Being told you have a less then 5% chance of conceiving naturally is never anything you think you’ll hear growing up, you’re always told how to protect against having children but never old that actually, you may need help to have them.
My IVF journey started last year after being diagnosed with low ovarian reserve. A world I had never navigated, one I didn’t know how to deal with, one that very quickly become my reality.
I done all the IVF stuff - blood tests, appointments in various places, invasive scans & injections to get the eggs needed.
1st transfer - failed all together
2nd transfer - successful but ended in a missed miscarriage.
Now no one can prepare you for the joy you feel after all this pain, to then have it ripped away in less than a few minutes.
This took the biggest toll - during this time it took 5 weeks for me to have my D&C, at the same time I was travelling to and from great ormand street as Kennedy was extremely poorly in ICU. Me & Paul were backwards & forwards to the hospital for myself for scans, even my mum came along to be my support. I thought that was it & we could get started again but nope, that was not the end.
I had more blood tests which confirmed a blood clotting disorder which looks like could be the result of my miscarriage, so a new medication protocol to follow on the next transfer.
Fast forward to November, I have an internal scan where they spot something else resulting in me having surgery in January, it felt never ending. It was one bad thing after another but we were cleared & told all was good to go.
March I have my 3rd transfer - the one that has given me my twins. This is also the one that broke me some more as my Nan passed away just as I found out I was pregnant. She was my biggest supporter, she told me it would all work out & be patient, little did I know that as I lost her, I gained my babies.
This journey is hard, try to conceive is not always easy for everyone, so be gentle on yourself & just keep going! You’re stronger then you think❤️
