An incredibly successful start to October for the Beagles with our U14 girls becoming National Road Relay champions in Sutton Park.

A beautiful day in Birmingham saw the best teams from all over England travel to the National Road relays in Sutton Park. With the junior teams running 3.88k per leg, our U14 girls started the event in style. Lianne Esterhuysen had a very strong run of 13:27 to position the team amongst the lead runners. Jess Davidson took over and started to build a gap to the other teams - running 14:45 - before handing over to Sophia Davies who extended the gap to pick up the fastest lap of the all U14 girls - 13:18 - and to push the team to a 96 second lead over second place. An amazing result to become inaugural U14 champions!

Our U16 girls battled strongly during their race, demonstrating brilliant team work and progress throughout the event. Amalie Twydell held her own off a very combative start line to run 15:00, Haysan So had the run of her life, sprinting at the finish to run 14:49, whilst Sophie Bickerstaff pushed the team to 9th with a strong run of 13:48.

Our U18 women weren’t quite a full team but our two runners relished the opportunity to take on the course and test themselves. Sarena So ran the first leg and did a great job, running hard to finish in 15:11, whilst Isabel Forrest also looked strong with a run of 16:32.

Finally, Olivia Forrest ran the first leg of the seniors women’s relay which takes on the longer distance of 5.47km. Happy to be back on one of her favourite courses, Olivia ran well finishing in 20:14.

A huge well done all - doing us proud as always! Thank you to , Leo and Daniel for photos.

It’s been a brilliant day of Beagles results with the Beagles doing us proud at the Berlin Marathon, Vitality 10000m, Eastern & Essex combined championships, Hitchen 5k and the River Ness 5K. Superb performances and, of course, podiums!

Starting off in Berlin where the marathon is always a draw for fast runners due to the excellent course and conditions. Scott Brooks was excited to collect his 5th marathon major with a superb run of 2:49.41 - his second fastest marathon ever! Whilst Stefan Otway finished 169th overall, 67th in his age group, with an excellent run of 2:26.11. Well done both.

Closer to home, the streets of London saw several Beagles taking on the 10000m. Robin Smith was an incredible 165th overall, 15th in his age group, with his speedy run of 34.56. Stuart Crowther also out performed the masses to finish 10th in his age group with his run of 45.24. We also saw excellent times from Jemimah Knightbridge - 43.53, Jamie Williams - 39:59, Celia Cordran - 1:14.57 and Emily Young - 1:10.19.

In Peterborough, U14 Andreas Carlisle took part in his first combined events championships and finished as the Essex champion! Also coming 4th in the Eastern region, Andreas jumped 1.47m in the high jump, 4.55m in the long jump, with good performances in hurdles - 13.72 and the 800m - 2:31.97. Shot put was less successful but valuable experience gained and an amazing overall result.

In Hitchen for their 5k event - Haysan So finished 1st with a great effort of 19:46. Sister Sarena was 3rd with her run of 20:42.

And at the River Ness 5K in Inverness, it was another double Beagles podium with Iyla Souter taking 2nd place in 17:55 and Jess Davidson 3rd in 18:15. A superb result given the 1800 runners taking part!

A huge well done to everyone competing today. An incredible round up of results.

Thank you Leo and Richard for photos. More to be added!

Another amazing performance for our U14 girls who became SEAA Road relay champions at today’s event.

At a very warm Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot, the best teams from the South of England came together for the Road relays. And our U14 girls proved to be totally dominant not only the fastest U14 girls team over the 3x3km legs, but they also beat all the U16 girls. The A team led from start to finish with Lianne Esterhuysen setting them off brilliantly with her run of 10:21. Jess Davidson followed leading the pack with a run of 10:37 and Sophia Davies was the fastest U14 of the day in 10:15. And our brilliant B team just underlined the potential in the squad - Blossom Smith had a great run of 10:45, Rosa Moss continues to show amazing progress in 12:43 and Emily Brewington brought the team home in 10th with an excellent effort of 11:17.

We also had a senior women’s team taking part who did a brilliant job to finish 25th. Each running 6km, Evie Warn started things off well with her run of 23:58, Barbara Aldridge enjoyed her first SEAA relays and did a great job - 26:27, Zara Morley picked up places with a run of 22:44 and Olivia Forrest brought them home in 23:41.

Well done all!

We also wanted to say a huge well done to everyone who took part in the schools Lee Valley XC this week. We know the results aren’t fully available but we saw some brilliant running. Well done, in particular, to:
Blossom Smith - 2nd Yr 7 girls
Olivia Spink - 3rd Yr 7 girls
Emily Brewington - 2nd Yr 8 girls and team gold with Isobel Larner
Sophie Bickerstaff - 1st Yr 10 girls
Will Fagan and Henry Greenwood - team bronze medallists Yr 9
Aria Sabado - Yr10 team silver medal
Dylan Hussain and Oscar Gander - team bronze medallists Yr 8

Huge congratulations to U14 Jessica Davidson who had a brilliant run at the junior Great North run on Saturday. Winning her own wave in the race in 15:10 - a full 20 seconds ahead of the next competitor - and finishing 3rd female overall (in all age categories) is a brilliant achievement.

Well done too to our athletes who travelled to Kingston for the SEAA matches. On Saturday the U10/12 event saw U10 Harriet Fletcher pick up a new 50m PB of 9.08, run 1:28.08 over 400m, jump 2.83m in the long jump and throw the howler 16.95m.
