Hi all. It is with regret that we can now confirm the dojo will not be reopening. The leaseholders have deemed it too costly to carry all the work out that would need doing for it to reopen.
There were a couple of times over the last few years that it was looking good for the work needed to be carried out, sadly it is not now to be.
Thank you to everyone that supported the dojo over the years. I know a few of us have grown up and been there from the very early 80’s🥋
Take care all,
William🥋👍

We offer Judo tuition and coaching for primaries (6 to 9 yrs)' Juniors (10 to 15yrs) and Seniors (16yrs +)
Hi all, sadly we are no nearer opening atm but are still working with our lease holders.
There is exciting news however and as many of you will have seen Silverbacks judo will be starting classes in Aberkenfig from next week. Silverbacks Judo is an independent club and not part of Bridgend judokwai. We are however very happy to be able help and support them in their new journey. They will be borrowing our mats (which we haven’t got to use yet😭🥋😂) so we are hoping all you lovely judoka will soften them up for us!🥋👍😂
As I will not be Coaching with Silverbacks judo I will not be the best person to contact with reference to any of their club enquiries . You can contact them on Silverbacks Judo Club. I am unable to tag them in this post so shall post their link in the comments.
Below is the initial details for the new sessions.
The very best of luck to Silverbacks Judo and I would encourage any of our judoka that can to support this exciting new club.
Take care, Sensei William Kent

I am proud to announce that Silverbacks Judo is taking a huge step and bringing Judo back to the Bridgend area. We have found a fantastic venue and classes will commence very soon….
We will look forward to welcoming newcomers and existing Judoka to practice our wonderful sport and martial art…..
Massive shout out to Bridgend Judokwai for their support…..
Details of the venue and times to follow..
Hi all. We hope you are keeping well. Sadly more setbacks as far as opening the dojo are concerned. The most recent assessment has now proved too costly for our leaseholders to be able to spend on renovating/repairing the building. They have however agreed to work with us to explore other avenues.
Not great news sadly but don’t forget you can still renew/take out new licenses by contacting head office and train at a dojo near yourselves.
Take care all,
William Kent🥋👍
Hi all. We hope you are all keeping well. Just to keep you updated, we had another site meeting with our lease holders this week. It is all sounding very promising but we have not yet be given any dates for when work will commence.
We hope to have more positive news to share with you in the not too distant future 🤞
Take care Sensei William Kent, Leon Caddy, Gavin Jones🥋👍
Hi all, just to keep you in the loop. Myself and Sensei Leon Caddy had a very successful site meeting at the dojo today. We are not yet sure on dates or timescale for the work to be completed atm but our lease holders for the dojo have agreed to the doing of the essential work needed to be done at the club. Nothing will be done this side of Christmas but we are hopeful for the work to start sometime the beginning of next year. Just wanted to keep you in the loop. We do seem to finally be getting somewhere🥋🤞😀
Hope you are all well,
Sensei William Kent🥋🤞😀

Hi all. We hope you are all well. Sadly despite our greatest efforts we are still no nearer the dojo opening🥋😔
I’ve not been on the tatami (mat) since pre COVID. However I’m looking to get a club visit to Sully Budokan on Weds 11th November. Unfortunately this is for seniors only(16+). I will however look at getting junior club visits arranged if there is enough interest 🥋😀🎉
All judoka will need to have an up to date license so please could you ensure that this is in place prior to training. The session will start at 7pm. Who would be interested? Rhys Hudson Leon Caddy Gavin Jones Richard Smart.
Please all pass on to relevant or interested judoka 🥋🎉😀 Bridgend Judokwai
