Bridgend Festivals Offices and Yard have now Closed Permanently

24/04/2021

Bridgend Festivals Committee

We have been informed by BCBC that the Brackla Street car park is not safe to use, so we are not able to reopen the Weekly Undercover Car Boot Sale. BCBC have not been able to provide us with a date as to when and if this will change.

This plus the ongoing restrictions in place with regard outside events means that we will no longer be able to continue operating as we have for the last twenty three years. Bridgend Festivals Committee will cease operating from its office and yard on Trewsfield Industrial Estate with immediate effect.

We would like to thank you all for your support over the years and wish you all the very best for the future.

Over the next few weeks a list of assets that will be offered for sale will be available from [email protected]

Many thanks

Barry, Jana, Marc, Ben and Alexis.

A TIP FOR NEW SELLERS
when packing your car put your table in last so it is easy to get to.
it can sometimes be intimidating when a large crowd of buyers are around your car so only get out your table and keep your car closed until you have set up your table and your boundaries. but if all that fails the stewards are allways there to help you and will not take any nonsense from pushy buyers, all that being said those people are going to buy a lot if you have the right stuff.
We have changed things a little since this original post the public (buyers) are not permitted into the boot sale until after 07:30 so if you are in the queue at 07:00 you should have time to get set up before the masses descend on you. 😅

Tips for new sellers
What to expect when arriving at Bridgend indoor Carboot sale

# we advise you to arrive between 7am - 7:30am if there is a queue please join the back of it don't try to cut in on a junction, the queue will run from the car boot along Cheepside turn up the hill on Brackla St. And turn right again onto Tremains Rd. Please don't panic if you are at the back of a very long queue as there is plenty of room inside.

# on entering the building you will be stopped by a steward who will ask if you have been before if you have not or not for sometime he will go through the rules with you at this point you are in agreement with the organisers to follow all rules, if for any reason someone is not able to follow any of the rules then they will be turned away at this point.

# you will then drive to the back of the building and turn right and keep on turning right up the floors until you find the second steward who will call you to a stop and ask if you require a single space at £7 or a double space at £14 and if you are wanting to park next to someone (to park next to a friend you must arrive at the same time). Do not pull into any parking places unless instructed to do so by the parking stewards.

# you will be directed to the parking steward who will point to the side of the building you are to DRIVE IN and instruct you to take a wide turn and park on the white line, straddling the white line once the parking steward has okayed your position put on your hand break and turn off your engine at this point the restriction of movement is in place.

# set up your table's across the back of your vehicle you have from the White line on the pillar to half way through the middle parking bay on a single space and between the two pillars or three parking bays on a double space (see other tips on this page for more info)

# The public (Buyers) are given entry to the building after 07:30am

# there is a refreshments kiosk on the ground floor to get hot and cold drinks and food. At approximately 9am the stewards who parked you will be around to collect the fee they will have a festivals ID if you don't remember what they look like it's £7 for the single and £14 for a double.

# at 11:30am the stewards and CCTV will assess how many buyers are in the building and if they are happy that it's safe to start moving vehicles out then an announcement will be made over loud speaker , “can all drivers please exit the building via the same route as you came in please make sure you have cleared all rubbish as CCTV is in operation and fines will be issued if necessary” at this point the restrictions of movement is lifted and you can follow the instructions out of the building.
