Species of the Week – Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) 🌷
Swaying in a gentle breeze, the delicate, pink flowers of ragged robin can be a joy to behold in any wildflower meadow, damp pasture or woodland ride. But it's not just passing humans that benefit from its star-shaped blooms - bumblebees, butterflies and honeybees all enjoy the nectar it produces.
Ragged-robin is a perennial. It has much-divided, pink flowers (hence the name 'Ragged') and narrow, grass-like leaves.
Carpiog y Gors (Lychnis flos-cuculi)
Gan siglo mewn awel ysgafn, gall blodau pinc cain y garpiog y gors fod yn llawenydd i'w gweld mewn unrhyw ddôl flodau gwyllt, porfa llaith neu lwybr coetir. Ond nid dim ond pobl sy'n mynd heibio sy'n elwa o'i flodau siâp seren - mae cacwn, gloÿnnod byw a Gwenyn Mêl i gyd yn mwynhau'r neithdar y mae'n ei gynhyrchu.
Mae'r robin garpiog yn blanhigyn lluosflwydd. Mae ganddo flodau pinc wedi'u rhannu'n helaeth (dyna pam yr enw 'carpiog') a dail cul, tebyg i laswellt.

Species of the Week – Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) 🤍
A resilient little flower, look for oxeye daisies on roadside verges, meadows and waste ground.
The yellow centre of the oxeye daisy is made up of many small flowers which hold nectar and are exploited by various pollinating insects, including butterflies, bees and hoverflies. Its large blooms appear from July to September and are so bright that they appear to 'glow' in the evening, hence the other common names of 'moon daisy' and 'moonpenny'.
The oxeye daisy is easy to identify by its large, round flower heads that appear on single, tall stems. It has spoon-shaped leaves at its base and thin, jagged leaves along the stem.
Llygad Llo Mawr (Leucanthemum vulgare)
Blodyn bach gwydn, chwiliwch am lygad y llo ar ymylon ffyrdd, dolydd a thir diffaith.
Mae canol melyn y llygod y llo wedi'i wneud o lawer o flodau bach sy'n dal neithdar ac sy'n cael eu defnyddio gan amrywiol bryfed peillio, gan gynnwys pili palod, gwenyn a phryfed hofran. Mae ei flodau mawr yn ymddangos o fis Gorffennaf i fis Medi ac maent mor llachar fel eu bod yn ymddangos yn 'disgleirio' gyda'r nos, a dyna pam yr enwau cyffredin eraill 'llygod y lleuad' a 'cheiniog y lleuad'.
Mae'r llygod y llo yn hawdd i'w adnabod oherwydd ei bennau blodau mawr, crwn sy'n ymddangos ar goesynnau sengl, tal. Mae ganddo ddail siâp llwy wrth ei waelod a dail tenau, danheddog ar hyd y coesyn.
