Our Burnley RUFC Senior Colts kick off their season this weekend with a warm-up clash against Eccles — and it all starts our Centenary Year in style 💯💙💛

This is the first chance for the lads to blow away the cobwebs and get some valuable minutes in the tank ahead of a big League & Cup campaign 👀

There are a few late calls to be made, with Tom Marsden, Lucas Norman and Josh Rowley facing fitness tests, while Taylor Morton (holiday), Oscar Bradley (Sale Sharks duty) and Ben Cook (work commitments) miss out this week.

A fresh season, a special year, and a talented group ready to get going 💪 Get down, show your support, and back the future of the club as they take their first steps into a huge season!

Burnley U16s Tour to the Netherlands

Burnley U16s enjoyed a fantastic tour to the Netherlands, where the team were warmly hosted by Oemoemenoe RC in Middelburg.

The tour got off to a flying start with a high-quality game against an Oemoemenoe invitational side. In a closely fought and entertaining contest, the hosts eventually came out on top 43–31. The match was played in an excellent spirit throughout, with both teams showing great commitment, skill and respect for one another.

The rugby was followed by two days of first-class coaching as the Burnley lads took part in the Oemoemenoe Summer Skills Clinic.

Having the chance to learn from coaches with such an impressive level of experience and expertise was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the players.

A fantastic tour, great rugby, outstanding coaching and, most importantly, memories that the Burnley lads will take with them for years to come.

A huge thank you to Phil and Chris Leck and all the staff at EZRC Oemoemenoe for their fantastic hospitality and for making the tour such a memorable experience.

What a great way to start the week!

We’re delighted that Thorne Fire & Security is supporting Burnley RUFC, with our sponsorship helping the club continue its fantastic work introducing rugby to young people in the local community.

Our support will enable the club to provide rugby coaching in a Burnley school, giving boys and girls the opportunity to try the sport - many of whom may never have had that chance before.

For us, this is about much more than sponsorship. It’s about supporting our local community, creating opportunities for young people and helping grassroots sport thrive.

We’re delighted to be able to play a small part and look forward to seeing the youngsters enjoying rugby! 🏉

🏉 U15s (YEAR 10) RUGBY PLAYERS — WE NEED YOU! 🏉

Burnley currently have 19 players registered for the new season, but we’re aiming for a squad of around 25 to make sure we can field a strong side every week — allowing for injuries, illness, family commitments and everything else that life throws at you.

So, if you’re heading into Year 10 this September, whether you’re new to rugby or fancy returning, come down and get involved with the lads! 💪

With 3 solid coaches and an organised manager, everyone will be welcomed, supported and involved from day one.

And with Burnley Rugby Club celebrating its Centenary Year, it would be fantastic to have junior teams across the board representing the club! 🎉🏉

All 15 junior teams are back training on Wednesdays, with our U14 Boys getting stuck in on Thursdays.

🏉😂 Old Boys (and Sons!) Touch – Still Got It… Just About! 😂🏉

Another cracking session this week — a few creaky knees, some suspect hamstrings, and now the added pressure of trying to keep up with the younger legs 👀

Whether you’re an old boy, a son, or somewhere in between — everyone’s welcome for a run out and a good laugh 💙💛

No tackles, no pressure… just rugby, banter, and the realisation your son might actually be quicker than you now 😅

Burnley RUFC are extremely proud of two of our Colts players who represented Sale Sharks U17 Academy in the RFU Festival at Malvern College on Thursday.

Oscar Bradley played in the front row in the games against Gloucester and Saracens, building on his performances last year in the Sharks PDG and Academy teams.

Alfie Rigby made his debut from the bench in a game against Northampton and also featured in the Saracens fixture.

Rigby, who has just turned 16 and stands at 6ft 7 with size 15 feet, was taken on an initial trail basis after impressing in the recent Sale Sharks led session at Holden Rd.

After only two full seasons at Burnley, the second rower has now signed for the season with the Sharks Academy.

Come and join the new U9s contact team at Burnley RUFC! 💙💛

The U9s are starting out on their rugby journey this season — and just look at how much fun our current squad are having! 😄🏉

Places are available for boys and girls who will be going into Year 4 in September 2026.

Why not come along and give rugby a go? 🙌

Our fantastic coaches, Laurie “Smudge” Smith and Alysia “Aly” Rushton, will make sure the sessions are all about fun and enjoyment, while introducing the children to tackling, catching, passing and the basics of contact rugby.
