🏏The final set of numbers are in as our 1st XI ended the year with a hard fought victory yesterday afternoon🏏

It is victory for the 1st XI as the sun sets here at Alford & District Cricket Club, the lads digging deep to come out victorious by 14 runs in a really good game played in good spirit by both sides.

It’s a positive end to the year for the lads, 9 wins and 8 defeats, and with results elsewhere it looks like a 5th place finish in the league.

🏏FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW🏏

Friday night across the UK, welcome to the weekend and welcome along to the final day of cricketing action for 2026, game 188 of a wild summer and unfortunately this is where it ends.

And it ends with our 1st XI, who make the longest trip of the season to Alford & District CC, as the two sides come up against each other for the third time this year, with both previous games going our way.

Skipper Shaun Clark makes one enforced change to the side which lost to Bracebridge Heath 2s last week, a result which saw them gain promotion, as the unavailable Matthew Oades is replaced by Harry Wiley.

That will mean that Tom Clixby, Ben Fish and Paul Mitchell will have played in every single 1st XI game this year, whilst Neil Simpson has also played a part in every game, but one occasion was as twelfth man, as he substitute fielded for the injured Rick Green in an early T20 game.

Our opponents in Alford have sadly already been relegated, but we are sure they’ll one to put on one last good performance to bow out with, especially on their home patch, so we are expecting a really good game to end the year with.

Any support at Train Fen Holt would be welcomed for one last time this summer, it might be a long trip but it is your last chance to see BCC in action this year, and it’s going to be a long 7 months without it.

All that’s left to say is go well to the lads and here’s hoping they can provide a winning outcome tomorrow!

🏏THE FINALE🏏

The curtain is almost ready to come down on the 2026 cricket season, with just one more competitive fixture set to take place.

Our 1st XI will close the season on Saturday afternoon when they make the long trip to Alford & District Cricket Club for the final game of the Lincolnshire Premier Cricket League, Division One North campaign.

It all started 152 days ago when our 1st XI saw off Outcasts and our 2nd XI fell to a narrow defeat to neighbours Brigg Town. Who’d have known that those two sides who we played on opening day would eventually win their respective league titles.

Join us for one last time this summer at Train Fen Holt if you can, it’s a 12.30pm start on Saturday and your support would be highly appreciated. Team news will drop on socials around 6pm tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that.

Congratulations to Rob Gill, who has been nominated for the Official of the Year - Match Officials Award at the Cricket Collective Awards.

Rob has regularly umpired for our 2nd XI this year, as well as our Women’s Long Format games. He’s also scored the majority of our U16s games as well as our last two 2nd XI games this season. He’s also regularly seen at other junior and women and girls games, contributing in one way or another.

We are incredibly grateful for his support, and wish him all the best of luck in this category!
