The main pool temperature has increased therefore we will be back open at 3pm.

We were hoping everything would be back to normal again today, however the temperature of the main pool hasn’t risen as quickly as we initially thought due to what appears to be a related issue. With this in mind the main pool will again not be open this morning. This will also affect the teaching pool programme. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience and hope to be back up and running as soon as possible.

We were hoping everything would be back to normal again today, however the temperature of the main pool hasn’t risen as quickly as we initially thought due to what appears to be a related issue. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience and hope to be back up and running as soon as possible.

Both main pool and teaching pool will be open as normal tomorrow thanks to those that have worked so hard to fix the burst pipe today.

***Pool closure***

Due to a burst pipe the main pool is closed until further notice. Public swimming will be affected in both the teaching pool and main pool. The website will be updated in due course.

Please Note: The gym will be closed today, Tuesday 29th due to pre-planned work. We will be bringing some new equipment into the gym. We can’t wait to show you! The rest of the building will be open as usual.

We're freezing the cost of our monthly and annual sports membership, protecting members from any price rises. Adult membership starts at £23 a month - the same price as in 2021 - for access to all sites, fitness classes and gym and swim facilities.
We've also launched a new Calderdale leisure app, to make it easier to sign up for membership or manage bookings at our sites.

We are looking for the family of Herbert Cockcroft who used to work at the old Brighouse. We would love to be able to reunite his family with this plaque which was rescued from the old pool.

Thank you to the lovely Cheryl we now have the following information:

Herbert was married to Mary Catherine Walls in 1900, he died on 6 March 1934. She died on 19 April 1954.

They had 2 children Walter born 1901 and Hilda born 1906.

Walter married Linna Louise Henry in 1933. They had a son David born 1935.

Hilda married Johnny Dixon in 1931.

Walter died on 9 December 1959. Linna died in 2001.

Johnny Dixon died 3 April 1982. Hilda Cockroft Dixon died 25 March 1984

We believe David Cockroft may still be alive so if anyone knows any more information we would love to hear it.

North Bridge Leisure Centre will be closing on 6 March 2022 to allow work to commence on a new, state of the art sport and fitness facility for Halifax.

Brighouse Swimming Pool & Fitness Centre will remain open, offering a new and improved range of fitness classes to provide further options for people to stay active.

🌟 Following the recent consultation with customers about Lane swimming sessions across Calderdale Pools, please see published results below 👇

🏊‍♂️ In summary;

➡️ Over 60% voted to keep the pre-booking process in place

➡️ Over 58% voted to keep the current pool layout of 3 double width slow, medium and fast lanes.

🏊 Main comments included;

➡️ Being unable to access lane swimming due to sessions being fully booked

➡️ Members booking and not turning up

➡️ Members not cancelling or booking more than one session

🏊‍♀️ What we are doing;

➡️ We have increased capacity to 10 per lane in order to try and meet demand and in line with governing body advice

➡️ We are looking into feasible ways to consistently manage member no shows

➡️ We recommend customers continue to pre book in order to guarantee a space
