We have now been able to fit yet another Defibrillator and Cabinet in Brightlingsea for Public Use.
This on is on a house in Robinson Rd.
It is available for use 24/7.
As always, when you call 999, the 999 Call Handler with tell you where the nearest Defib is and the access code for the cabinet.
Thank you again for all you kind donation to enable this to happen, and thanks to Matt for allowing this to be fitted on his property. Also thanks to the electrician that fitted this for us.
This is the 25th Defibrillator we have been able to purchase, 23 of these are fitted in Cabinets available for Public use.
The other 2 are issued to Steve H and Steve W. They are both registered on a Worldwide App called Goodsam and they can be contacted to attend a Cardiac Arrest within 800m of them, when they are "Off Duty".
I have attended several of these calls when away on holiday, so it's not only in Brightlingsea. The last time l was called "Off Duty" was 2 weeks ago when our on Duty CFR was attending another call.
I question l get asked is " Do we really need these many Defibs in Brightlingsea ? "
The answer is yes. The British Heart Foundation say in the idea world, you should be no further than 150m from a Defib, that will never happen.
When someone's heart stops, for every minute that it is not restarted, there is a 10% less chance of survival, you can soon use up a lot of that time.
So the nearer you are to one the better !
