Have you ever wanted to learn how to meditate but never had the patience? Do you find it impossible to be still and switch off from all your worries?

I am a Meditation Personal Trainer, registered with Meditation Personal Trainers, who in turn are recognised by The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (C.I.M.S.P.A)
If you struggle to be still then I can start you on some moving Qigong which is a form of moving meditation called The 8 Pieces of Golden Brocade, BaduanJin. This is a form of Chinese moving meditation that links the mind, breath and body.
From this I can teach you standing meditation called Zhan Zhuang. This is also known as Standing Qigong, Standing Like a Tree, or Post-standing, zhan zhuang is a training method that originated in China. It's often practiced by students of tai chi, yiquan, xingyiquan, and baguazhang.
Eventually, after practice you will be able to meditate and be peaceful in the more traditional manner while sitting comfortably. This has be shown to help with many different health conditions, both physical and mental.

1. If you have been treated for any diagnosed Psychotic episodes, then please do not attend, as meditation can adversely affect diagnosed psychosis sufferers.
2. If you suffer from anxiety, there are rare occasions when meditation can increase anxiety. Please be aware of this.
The session will be structured with moving meditation first, followed by standing meditation and finishing with seated meditation.
Please make sure you have a comfortable chair in a warm room for the seated meditation at the end of the session, if need be have a blanket available.

STRESS AND MEDITATION
STRESS. ANXIETY, DEPRESSION.
These are mental health problems that will affect everybody at some time in their lives especially after Covid. We all have our own way of dealing with them, either successfully or not so successfully.
During my time working as a GP Referral Personal Trainer, I found that exercise was a really good way with helping with these problems. The only problem was that sometimes, if a client was having a bad day, the last thing they wished to do was even leave the house, let alone face a gym of beautifully toned people.
Even when at the gym, I was always surprised by how many clients were never actively focussed on their breathing. This was also so true outside the gym. Mental health issues and the rush and tear of modern life can cause people to breathe in a very shallow way using only the top half of their lungs. If you are not breathing deeply, you reduce the amount of oxygen for your muscles and mind, which in turn affects how effectively you mind and body can function.
This is where I can help with Mindfulness and meditation coaching.
I am qualified to teach Mindfulness and Meditation having been on a fully approved and accredited Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) teaching course.
I can visit people 1-1 or in small groups to teach people how to meditate in an easy effective way. I am not a self-styled Meditation Guru preaching to you about changing your entire way of life or becoming “one with the Universe”, but I can give you the tools to make your life less stressful and calmer. April is stress awareness month and I will be taking some Chinese moving meditation (Chi Gong) and standing meditation (Jam Jong) sessions in Southwick Recreation Ground, behind the leisure centre. These two types of meditation are great for people who struggle to sit still for traditional seated meditation, and have also been shown to help create a healthy body and mind, stronger legs and core. Initially you will learn basic forms of these and afterwards, learn a more dynamic form.
These will happen every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30, beginning on Thursday 10th April and are for people who have stress and anxiety in their lives. First session is free but after that it is £8 for a single session or £60 for 12 sessions.
